It’s the Clone King 25
Yep, the Blue Dream is next and is the one the crazy cat tried to “help” me with.
Thanks bud! Looking at your picture it looks like you cut off the netting on the cups. Is this true? Or did you order ones without the net/basket thingy? Do you use any rooting gel or powder?
Blessings and happy growing!
Yes I did cut the netting off, would just be in the way and let roots get tangled up in it making the clone harder to remove without damaging roots.
I don’t use any rooting gel or powder in the aero-cloner as it would just get washed off the stem as soon as the pump is turned on. I use Clonex Clone Solution and EZ Clone Clear Rez in the cloner, all you need.
Dark period before harvest
The 48 hours of darkness before harvest is one of those things some people either swear by or some say it does nothing. This is something I started doing over 20 years ago, most likely from something I read in High Times (best source of grow info before the internet).
Personally, I’ve always thought it was beneficial to harvest plants after the dark period - whether it’s the normal 12 hours of dark you get from the 12/12 light schedule or an extended dark period of 48 hours. The plants exude “sun screen” oils and things that protect them from the light during the dark period and that may enhance some things like THC or terpens.
With lab testing, it can now be proved somewhat that there is a benefit to it rather than just “bro science”. Though more testing needs to be done to ensure that it is something that happens consistently and across different strains.
Yeah I found that video last year and it cemented my 48hr rule.
Maxium yeild is a nice source of info to, oh bakc when hightimes was the only source of info as side from published books lol
I quated another forum here to when I searched for more info but that’s about all I could find at the time. Opinion on plant harvest readiness - #5 by Nicky
There is also some intriguing information on tricomb shape as to deal with readyness.
A study to do with color and tricomb cabinoid make up I swore I read but can’t find it…
Hi hellraiser have u got any tips on signs that the buds are the right dryness after harvest. Currently all hanging on a drying rack
I just go by feel mostly. Feel up one of the small/medium sized buds and give it a pinch, does it stay flat - way too wet, does it spring back some - about right, does it disintegrate into powder - way too dry. Also test some thin stems by trying to bend them, if they just bend like a noodle then too wet, the stem should be firm enough that they do more of a “break” than just bending.
You know what dry bud feels like, we want it just a little moister than that to start the slow dry and curing stage. Should feel a little moist but not wet.
At 65F and 60RH I usually hang dry (in my tent) for 6 or 7 days before dry trimming and moving them to CVaults to sweat out the inner moisture. At higher temps and lower humidity expect less days. When I hung buds out in the open with low humidity they would often be ready to dry trim in 3 or 4 days.
Definitely going to start going 48 hrs before harvest. I’m just getting comfortable actually knowing when to harvest based on what the plant tells me, so my harvest were traditionally alittle rushed and not well planned out.
Nice looking roots!
At what point do you think they are ready to come put of the cloner? Is it amount of roots? Is there a certain amount you look for? My clones starting throwing roots too but it’s my first go and don’t know when they’re supposed to be ready for transplant… They are on day 10 in the octo cloner. I can take some pics in 20 min
@Hellraiser what kind of uva lamps do you use if you dont mind me asking. Im looking into getting 2 for my 4 x 4`
I know my name isn’t Hellraiser but…I asked him the same question recently. He uses HLG UVA Bars. Use discount code dudes I believe.
@Bamamojo you the man brotha
They are ready to come out of the cloner when they look like my last pic, plenty of roots and ready for planting. I’m going to plant those clones in coco tomorrow evening.
I use the HLG UVA30, HLG says one is good for a 4x4 area.
Nicceeee, thanks for that info. How do you like them, do you notice a difference with the UVA lamps?
I notice a bit more trich coverage, specially on the leaves. My first harvest that used the UVA did seem just a tiny bit more potent than without. Even my freinds that didn’t know I had started using UVA said the latest Cherry buds seemed just a little stronger than the previous Cherry.
Yeah thats what I here. I can’t wait to test them out. I grow for personal use so im all about quality even if its a little bit.
