Hi guys I was wondering if any one had a way of making THC goo aka shatter it’s a THC concentrate A friend said if you combine butane gas with stems leaves in a metal tube and boil to a certain degree it will strip the THC from the stems leafs and bud and leave you with a honey golden THC concentrate.
Now I’m about to harvest my first crop I’d like to do this and would like any advice possible.

Get some 151 proof alcohol. Put about 1.5oz in Mason jar, dump 151 in, shake for 20-30 second, strain through coffee filter into pyrex glass and let alcohol evaporate. I get a large pan, fill with water, put on low heat and cook alcohol off. Make sure you vent very well and no open flame

I wouldn’t attempt butane unless your very experienced in it. People underestimate how flammable it really is and have burned houses down.

I’m with you on the butane as straight away I though that was a doggy way of doing it lol but I’m really eager to do as meany thing as possible I’m also going to brew real ale and fuse weed with it and I’d like to learn haw to use every inch of the plant from tip of the bud to the roots .
Also it helps to grind the bud up some and put it in the freezer for a couple hours because the THC caught falls off easier when it’s cold put the alcohol in the freezer to

Super critical (dry ice) shatter is about the best one can do, by maintaining -180 f. during the extraction the undesirable elements are left out. The butane method should only be done with N-butane otherwise isobutane because it’s free of industrial lubricants found in canned butane for lighter recharging.
The safest method by far is using a closed loop extractor and recovering the gas by condensing it super critical with dry ice or liquid nitrogen, weather or not an explosion proof compressor is used or the condensing and precipitation method is used.
Another thing that’s necessary is to do the math on butane expansion, volume of liquid butane used, combustibility PPM, and CFM of air exchange indoors or out. Butane is not only flammable but EXPLOSIVE. It also pools similar to gasoline vapors and that must be taken into consideration.
For liability reasons I cannot elaborate on procedures.

This is right from a food scientist working in the medical cannabis industry:
Ratio is one ounce of alcohol to 1 gram of flower.
Do NOT grind; this breaks up plant material that you don’t want extracted.
Place alcohol (higher the proof the better) and flower in the freezer for one hour minimum. When fully chilled, mix the two together and shake vigorously for 30 seconds then return to the freezer. After 15 minutes, shake again. At 1 hour remove and strain plant material from the liquid. You can rinse with a couple of ounces of alcohol as well.
Allow the alcohol to dissipate and you have everything from a tincture to shatter.
This method reduces the amount of chlorophyll extracted which is bitter and contributes to an “off” taste. This will extract 99% of the beneficial oils.
Remember that none of this is decarboxylated so use accordingly.

Yeah this is basically qwiso. It does come out high test if done right. I use everclear and freeze everything first
Quick wash for cleanest outcome.
Usually its brown n hashlike but sometimes ill get an amber shatter type comeback that pings when cutting it.

You’re talking about open blasting with butane. There’s nobody here to help you with that. If you want to run bho spend the cash on a closed loop system and learn how to do it safely, or get a press and make wax that way.

Will do the butane idea I was never going to try but needed to put it in my description as I didn’t no what people rd the rest of the world called it as there are so meany nick names but rest ashore I won’t be doing it with that lol I’ll look into the closed loop you suggested as well as the others.
Do you need to decarboxylate before extraction?

I don’t think so. If you watch them press it is a full bud being pressed. You’re also using heat so you are essentially beginning to in that process.

If a tincture is going to be used, it will have to be decarbed. If you are reducing it to wax then smoking/vaping will do it. If pressing, the press will decarb it.
