Have my buds gone bad?

So I’m looking into hydrometers and I did find them pretty cheap. The only question I have is the application of them. Should I put them in the jar with the buds? Or should I just keep them in the pantry that I hold all the jars in? Thank you for your time

You put them in the jars so you can monitor the environment inside each jar without having to open the lid.

Thank you

Theyve been kept in a vacuum-sealed mason jar and have been cured since September. I’ve only opened it maybe 1 or 2 times at the most between that time

If that’s all you burped them in that amount of time…Id say it wasn’t enough You should have opened them daily for a few weeks and then less as time went on…If you are tasting mildew when your hitting your joints Id say your taste buds are correct and I wouldn’t smoke it… You cant necessarily always see the mold as @Jaysittinback and @808Dredd stated a good microscope or I believe a blacklight and or green light(?) will show mold or mildew on your buds…
Dont feel bad…I had some older buds (2 years old ) That was fully dried and cured that I let sit for quite a while that I recently checked on and when i opened the Mason jar it smelled like mold…No visual signs on that one just the smell…I threw it out!! Another from the same batch had visual mold on it…I tossed it…Other then that all of my past 2 to 3 harvests are fine…Old but fine…
** Try Grove bags …you wont have to worry about burping…
