I got a candy cane auto in .5 gal nursery pot I just bought a 5 gal maxx pot was wondering has anyone used them ? They are expensive but I figured they work well. Thanks for the info …

No, but I’ve seen them at my local hydro store and I’m going to buy one for my 8-Ball Kush which I plan to keep for a while

Same thing I showed you @Paranorman… Air pruning pots… I thought you where gonna make a few solo cups…just throwing it out there… Might help people from spending money for no reason … I try to encourage people to make and design things… Sometimes your smarter then anything you can buy…

Yeah well I need to improve myself and my techniques before I start spending money on more than a regular planter hell I have a 7 gallon smart pot I haven’t even tried yet and may not this grow

@FloridaSon yeah this time I think I am going to stick with the 4 gallon pots and do a Scrog with 2 plants . I have a small space and only have room to Scrog a couple at a time or grow 3 I think I am going to wait on the smart pot till I am going to grow only 1 big plant .

@oldstoner, my first grow 5 plants 3x4 grow room/scrog 7gal smart pots, flipped to flower at 48 days, checked rootzone after grow, never maximized root potential. now my second grow, same. Area but 3 pots this time/ have a feeling rootzone not maximized. Will downsize to 5gal smart pot next grow. Agree if you going big upsize pot, otherwise wasted supplies/effort, for me anyway. So I check these out today at the hydro store, the 3 gallon equivalent was 12 bucks! …so if I do this I’ll be using @peachfuzz’s method
I’m going to make one for my 8-Ball Kush mother plant over the weekend, eventually I’m going to do a side-by-side with a couple of clones and see if there’s a difference (I think there may be)

I just put some autos in 5 gal max pots they are doing awesome brother I’m sure with your growing skills your 8 ball is going to be the

Same basic concept… @Paranorman
The reason for the holes being done the way that they are is for two reasons , one is so that if I water it doesn’t just spill out of the holes if I was just to do a straight line up and down and two is because the direction my finger is pointing is the angle that your roots grow down and circle the pot unless you live on the other side of the Equator in Australia or something , then they grow the opposite way kind of like are toilets flush…lol

Well the Coriolis effect aside (and perhaps a topic for discussion at another time) they had some cheapies for like $3.69 with the holes straight up & down and that’s just what I thought about the water coming out LOL …a real mess!
…so I’m going to do just what you did, I have a soldering iron somewhere I’m going to take a whack at it !

Make sure your in a well ventilated area before starting your project…

The soldering iron is the only way to go in this situation if you try to use a drill with a drill bit , they crack over time , they fall apart , they just don’t last as long …the soldering iron for some reason makes a single Bond and actually makes the whole stronger where you penetrated so they seem to hold up really really well… I’ve been using these pots for 10 years now and maybe only throw one away once a year due to old age and falling apart … also remember a package of Solo cups I think 36 to 48 cups is only $4 LOL…
