I’ve been growing for a couple for a couple years and have never seen this happen.
I went away for the weekend, I watered all 4 of my plants, 2 outside & 2 in a tent.
When I came home, I found this, it is only one the one plant that seems to have died.
It is dried out. I gave all 4 plants the same water and nutrients. Does anyone have any idea what happened here?
Was that fan behind her blowing on her the whole time? Without alot more info, it is a crap shoot on the cause.
She looks rough, but not dead. I would water her and pay her some TLC and see what happens.
Hey @Lunchman looks like she started the harvest without your consent. Let’s see about how your grow was going up to the day…
What was/is your watering schedule prior to the day you left for the weekend?
What is your feeding schedule prior to the day you left? What and how much?
Have you applied and beneficial microbes to your root zone?
What was the moisture level of the other plant(s) in the tent with the one that died when you returned?
What is the temperature range for the tent?
I’ve had to leave my plants for up to 6 days before during flower.
Here’s precautions I would recommend if you have to and can’t find a friend to help out.
Turn lights down to 50% or less.
Top off with fresh straight water pH to 6.0. (Hydro methods, 6.5 for soil)
Turn temperature down in lung room.
Key is to not expect much while you’re away. It’s like your plants are getting a few days of cool weather.
How much water?
Over watering mostly refers to watering too frequently… When you water…when the soil dries out… You can literally pour gallons through the soil without stressing the plant… As long as you keep track of nutes and pH.
My guess is… You had watered… This plants thirst and possibly the heat or airflow worked against you.
@Bonjoyle may have you there… Unless you’re saying it’s totally dried out… You may be able to save it by watering to drench and letting it recover.
Give the plants a good watering they will bounce back . Some plants will acquire more water than others. Especially a big flowering plant will suck up some water.
I agree with @kellydans water here she come out of it looks like that plant love to drink or could be over watering can also do it as @Growmoredank saying
*What was/is your watering schedule
About every 3 days,
**What is your feeding schedule
Every other watering 5ml of Black Magic A & B
***Have you applied and beneficial microbes to your root zone?
No I didn’t
****What was the moisture level of the other plant(s) in the tent
Not sure what the moisture level was, but I did include a pic of both plants.
*****What is the temperature range for the tent?
84-87 degs.
What puzzles is why only one plant. All 4 plants had roughly the same amount of water. And why is it only affecting this one plant?
Why is it only one plant? If I over watered than I overwatered all 4 plants.
I did flush it out tonight, figured I have nothing to lose, she drying out real fast.
That’s kinda on the high side of the temps. Unless your humidity is above 70% your the VPD is on the high side.
Here’s a way to calculate the VPD.
Could the plant be in a hot spot in the tent? Could be root issues or just genetics couldn’t handle the heat.
Try to keep temps between 60 & 80F for best results. Once it gets too hot your plant will close stomas to help retain water. This shuts down the THC factory. Replacing air inside your tent with an exhaust fan can help control heat buildup. Exhaust from high spot in your tent to get rid of the hot air. Pull air from low point and use fan below canopy to circulate air underneath where the stomas are located in leaves. It’s not beneficial to circulate the hot air above the canopy, let it rise and exit up top.
Beneficial Microbes can help plant handle stress by creating a healthy root zone by colonizing the root zone with microbes that breakdown salts and make nutrients available to plant.
Some growers will use hydrogen peroxide to sterilize the root zone and/plant. This is a more invasive approach and will eliminate healthy and bad microbes. But when your plants infected is a way to reset and apply Healthy Microbes afterwards.
You can also add silica to strengthen your plants cell structures which can help retain water and protect against leave biters.
Heat got cha. Looks just like one of my plants from the last harvest i had. I had 7 plants total and 2 ended up cooked from the heat. Some plants are tempermental and sensitive to the elements even if they are from the same strain…
@Lunchman good morning… Sorry for the confusion… I meant you may have underwatered that one plant. Plants all are like people each is a bit different in many ways… Including hunger and sensitivity to heat or cold.
Query posed, no reply, I stand on my input of that fan. If that is the only plant and it was in front of that fan with 85ºF, that IMO is a no brainer.
Which is also why I said she does not look dead, just severely thirsty.
Keep us posted and good luck!!
One time I THOUGHT I had watered each of my 4 planta equally but came to find out that I usually start with back 2 plants and the go clockwise. Then I got interrupted mkd stream.
Came back 3 days later and the same result as you… but I remembered for some reason I reversed the order mid watering and ended up watering the one plant only half what the others got.
Ithere is a fan right in back of plant, was fan on or off all weekend?
The fan is in the corner the same place it has been for the last couple months. So We have had much hotter days than this last weekend. I flushed her last night with 2 gallons of water. She didn’t respond, she still looks like she’s on deaths door.
I have a 12 inch oscillating fan on the floor and an exhaust fan up top. My fans run 24-7.
So I don’t think it’s the heat
It was not hot this weekend, We have had 90 plus days and it did not affect her. I can’t figure out what it could be.
So dont i and i have a 6 inch up in a corner, in a 5x5 tent, whats your point that a fan blowing on a plant couldn’t dry it out?
Yeah i agree with the fan idea. I had a fan to close and blowing on a plant once and it did something similar. Messed the leaves up pretty good.
