Harvested the 2 plants from my first ever grow on Saturday and I have had them drying since then. One plant had a mix of cloudy and amber trichomes and the other was just cloudy. Took a tad over 11 weeks and yielded about 3lbs of wet bud total
Gratz. Looks good.
Way to go!
Hard to tell from the pics but I think I still see some white pistils on the buds. You may have been able to wait a bit longer and got a little more weight. You will lose at least 80% of that 3 lbs to drying and after removing stems and leaves I will guess about 6 ounces dry. Trichomes can become cloudy sometimes weeks before the buds are mature. Even some will amber. I just want to be honest with you because I too harvested too early in my first grows. There are actually two things that have to be present for maturity. All the pistils need to be brown and after that happens check the trichomes on the flower buds, not the leaves. You should still get a buzz off the plants, but next grow try to wait for full maturity.
Here is a pic you posted a couple weeks ago,
This bud has approximately 6 weeks left before maturity
This is why I say this…Close up of your pic…
Definitely appreciate the feedback. I made the decision to chop based on an upcoming vacation that wasn’t planned when I started the grow so I wanted to be able to put them in grove bags to cure before I left. This being my first time I wanted to be able to monitor the dry and make adjustments in case something went wrong when I am was away. I originally intended to go another 2 weeks at least. I have already started another 6 plants in a different tent though.
I understand. Timing sometimes throws a wrench into our plans.
I always hesitate to write a reply like I did since its after the fact. We all here work hard not to make others feel bad about their grows. But I also know that if someone had corrected me early on I would have had much better results. Honesty sometimes is painful to hear but the results are so much better than not being corrected. BTW those plants look super healthy which is no easy task with cannabis. Mine often look way worse before I get to the end. Tag me on your next grow. Looking forward to it.
There were definitely some white pistols hairs rig’s before chop. I was mainly looking at trichomes on the bud. I have no problem receiving any type of feedback as that is part of the learning process. Here is a picture of the bud right before I chopped.
And this is more like what you want to see.
There will almost always be a few white pistils but when they look like this then check the trichomes.
What Spiney said. You made the best judgement call based on your situation, and if you don’t like the current harvest, then your other plants will take care of you.
ILGM White Widow autos are really nice, and I like them both with some amber and all cloudy, so what you are planning with chopping a cloudy and another one with some amber is a good recommendation. You can also cut off a bud, or a piece, to try before harvesting.
God that’s a pretty bud.
@Jh83420 I understand the vacation thing. Moot but look into auto watering or reservoir.
My guess is 8-10 oz dry bud.
Thanks, I appreciate it. My new plants are going into earthboxs which has a 3 gallon reservoir in the bottom. I did look at Blumats before selecting earthbox. I know I am still a newb to all this but my goal is to grow high quality bud and always do better than the last run.
I have no doubt you will do just that.
Anyone Anyone at all. How much longer to harvest? I’m coming up on 12 weeks.
I personally should have waited several more weeks on my WW. Ended up with 9.5 ounces dry but there was no density to any of the bud once dry. The advice that Spiney_norman gave is what I would go with in your case
A couple more weeks.
Its ready bro im just gonna come out and say it, it is a tough call though but i personally think its ready your not always going to see lots of amber. Let the scissors fly buddy
