Harvest Time Durban Poison

Hello first time grower here. Started with seeds indoors in mid Apr. and transplanted them outside . I topped them off and one grew very short and bushy and the other much higher and slimmer. I do not see any reds pistols on the buds just a rust coloring around them .
The buds on the smaller plant are pretty large and fat and I don’t know if I have waited to long to harvest these. The larger plant seems to have skinnier and much longer buds than my smaller plant. These have been growing for 5 months so I would of thought that they should of been peaked by now.
I cannot find any info out about how to post a picture on this site so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Like your screen name.

If you can post some clear close up pictures of the buds (not the leaves) and of the entire plant, you will get responses that can help.

Welcome to the group.

Ops. You want to know how to post pics. Sorry.
Look for the icon I circled if using your phone. Goes to your photos. Click the ones you want and click add. WAIT FOR THEM TO LOAD before submitting

I think I figured it out on my desktop PC. Here goes I hope.
The first 4 pics are of the small bushy one and the last two are of the larger narrower one the taller one is one week younger than the small one .
Hope you can guide me because like I said I do not see any colors in the buds but some rust looking colors around them . I hope that its still maturing but as a first time grower I don’t whether or not they are ready for harvesting.

Youre gonna love this smoke. I have some Durban kept back for soecial occasions. Definitely one ill be growing again. If you can get a clear pic as close up to a calyx as possible. Need to see trichomes. Cant go by look of bud alone.

Those are hefty for sure.

Do you have a digital camera so you can do close up pics? If not, I assume you have a camera on a smart phone? Get close kinda like below even though this example isn’t totally clear.

Or you can get a digital microscope and get up close and personal

I appreciate the reply from both Hot & Humid and Chitty Chitty , As far as the pics go that is about the best I can do with pictures. I have looked at them with a magnifying glass many times and I do not see any of the pistols or trichomes.
Like I said I am brand new to this . It is more of a fun thing for me to do so I don’t want to invest in equipment ( scopes , humidity guages ) ect I just want to try and do it by eye & feel.

I think my best bet might be to just cut some of the buds off and start the drying & curing stage and let the plants keep going until I can give it the final test of enjoying a smoke of the labor of my love. Thanks

If i were going by looks, then yes id pull. Doesnt appear to be any white pistils remaining and the red hairs have receeded back into the bud. Youll def be happy. Do you have a drying plan?

Just going to hang them up for 10 - 14 days in my garage Then putting them into a few sealed containers for a couple weeks opening up the container twice a day for 15 minutes or so. This is what I have reading and watching on the internet but I am open to suggestions. So if I did wait to long to harvest it shouldn’t ruin the entire plant?

Nah, you didnt wait too long. Looks just right as goldielocks would say lol… as far as drying, this is my method.

Days 1 -5 70°F @ 60%rh
Days 5 - whenever 60 to 65°F 50 to 55% rh

If you dont want to worry about anything after drying, i would look at grove bags. Once dry, you bag the bud, seal it up, throw in a drawer and forget about it. It keeps the good gasses in while allowing the bad gasses out. No burping required. Cures in the bag. Throw and go. Remember the slower she dries the better.
Little air circulation. Make sure theres space between buds and not bunched together if hanging the whole plant.

I just went out and clipped a bud off and now that it is in the house I put some bright light on it and looked at it with the magnifying glass and now I can see a boatload of white pistols all over the entire bud and there are a few rust colored hairs starting to come out of parts of the bud so is that possibly a premature bud or is it past it’s prime ?

I know it is impossible to say for sure without better pics but I am up for opinions on what to do as far as harvesting yet or wait.

Just looking at the pics, the calyx’s are swollen and the pistils are dried up. I’d guess it’s in the harvest window.

Thats ready! If that was my plant i would be harvesting it right now. Thats what I’m waiting to see on my 3 plants… another week i guess…

I weighed the bud that I cut yesterday and it was 27 oz.
How much weight loss should I expect after the plants are dried and cured ?

I managed to take a few pics with my camera on Macro.

The first 3 pics are of my older smaller plant ( very dry buds ) now and my other 4 pics are of the one week younger larger plant ( still sticky ) and much more wetter.
I cut a bud off the smaller plant & started drying it out and in four days this bud is dry as hell and crumbling a bit when handled. I rolled some of it up and smoked it last night and it burned nicely and didn’t have to much of a marijuana smell to it and it did not have any effect on me at all.
I am afraid that these are over ripened or still to early to harvest.
Do these pictures help at all? I do not want my first grow to completely go to waste by not harvesting them at the right time. Please Advise me . Thanks
