Harvest issue - gold leaf

There’s soooo many posts on organics literally just search “organic grow”….

I have grove bags and haven’t harvested yet to use them but there’s an actual grove bag thread on this forum and so far my understanding of the technology used with them is this:

Get your buds dried to around 11% RH ~63% moisture content and then put in bags and seal for cure….no burps needed and they hold for months and can be reused for many different harvests

Side note: we beat things to death around here it’s just what we do :call_me_hand:t2:

grizZz, to be clear, I understand how my persistence appeared as arguing, however what I was trying to do, being new here, was to get others involved and possible bring new ideas to the table or more pics to see the growing characteristics of the GL (2 plants hardly makes a case one way or the other. We have two incidences of not so great of a grow with GL. Yes it grows like wild, but I question the lack of trics, etc… No big deal, we all learn as we go…
While I realize I pushed them to hard/long, the problem presented itself very early, just like the pic above. I should have minimized my loss then. However, we will see what is left to the buds after curing. Not very hopeful, but as stated before possibly a good C-lock batch!

Thanks for your help…

I’m still out of likes but I completely appreciate this thread! I just don’t want you to go through this confusion again is all! Good luck with your grows and don’t hesitate to tag me for anything…if I can’t help you I know (and so do you now) people that can :facepunch:t2:

Again my plant was not a gold leaf.

Grove bags are just a better version than jars, they don’t auto burp you still need to burp them to my understanding but it’s easier to burp 1 bag vs 4+ jars for each plant.
Harvest 4 plants and thats alot of jars and alot of humidity sensors etc etc. They are re usable.

Thanks again!!

To further on nickys point I’ve read about the need to burp the bags as well and it seems the people needing to do this, put the buds in while it’s too wet…I’m not trying to argue with Nickys expertise but your experience using them might call for it or might not….it probably wouldn’t hurt to keep a moisture reader in with them at first so you know for sure what ya need to do….somehow I don’t think it will be to wet tho

I am planning on adding the citrus as Nicky suggested. These need to be hydrated, no question there…

A side question: Other than new breeds, etc… do you think most of the common seeds come from just a few suppliers and relabeled, like everything else in this world? I ask bc if that is true, it seems like it should not matter where one purchases their seeds unless looking for something new. Maybe age and storage methods affect the seeds by the time they are received? Any thoughts?

I have thoughts and I haven’t purchased seeds from anyone….

ILGM ALL THE WAY

The guarantee on their seeds alone is something others simply CANT do

Then you take into account that if there was anyone that knew anything about strains, origins, and everything in between they are right here on this forum

Also….this is just good business…if other companies can’t at least match ILGM then they’re not even trying to compete because they don’t care about you the way ILGM does :man_shrugging:t2: My 2 cents :sunglasses::facepunch:t2:

One more addition…I try not to live my life on hypotheticals as the world is vexing enough

I have 2 Gold Leaf Auto sisters both at day 54. One has grown faster and is fattening buds. I don’t know if the yellowing leaves are genetics or over-feeding. The smaller twin had clawing of new leaves, from over-feeding I’m told (nitrogen toxicity). Bother were topped above node 4, #1 on day 20, #2 on day25. Light LST to keep the branches at the same height. Here they are, #1 and #2, top view and side view:

Mine grew like wild fire but never, ever, had to potential to produce the buds you have. I do believe, it was a runt seed that I should have discarded. But know this, as soon as mine began to brown with immature triks, I never could turn it around. If it continues to brown, I suggest harvesting as soon as you can. Mine had a very strong odor and I thought was going to be a killer, but it just stopped maturing, for whatever reason.

FYI

I definitely gave them too much liquid fertilizer for a while, and since my soil retains moisture I can’t “water til runoff” to get rid of it without drowning them. I’ve only harvested 2 plants so far, and one i didn’t harvest until the sugar leaves turned brown and crispy. I’m better informed for my next grow. I’ll keep an eye on this one and take your advice on early harvest if necessary.

It would be nice to see if others have the same issue with GL.

Do you have a fabric pot? Maybe you can put a fan on it and it will help dry the soil. Read up on organic soil. Not suggesting you jump into that but you can make a mix similar to organics which will not hold so much water for so long.

I’m going to try coco coir for my next grow, which doesn’t hold much water at all, so it’s closer to hydroponics than soil growing. I have a large supply of HG Flora liquid nutrients, which are supposedly well suited for that type of growing. I’ll also try using coco coir with my homemade compost to see if that’s a happy medium (pun intended). I learned a lot about how nutes work in different growing media from this short tutorial: Tutorial - A word on Nutrients | The Autoflower Network
I’m also learning a lot from Nebula Haze’s tutorials at growweedeasy.com
The example photos from the ILGM online seed catalog give me hope that it could be genetics: Gold Leaf Feminized Seeds For Sale | Buy Online >>> ILGM

I purchase GoldLeaf and Sour Diesel seeds feminized. I read that Sour Diesel grows tall, both of mine are still small after two months. I expected a six foot plant.

It’s not the plant, it’s the way your playing God basically.

You control. Environment conditions.

Your best bet is to start a new thread and fill out a support ticket we can go from there.

I just finished a Goldleaf along with two Banana Kush’s. The goldleaf hermied on me without me seeing it during the grow and subsequently pollinated the Kush’s. No issues with how the goldleaf grew. I did wind up letting it go longer than I would have liked to due to a death in the family but other than that a decent grow. It did not pollinate my tent heavily because I’m only finding the random seed here and there. It was only when I harvested it that after close inspection I was able to see very small nanners tucked inside the buds. Plant produced some nice frosty/sticky buds with a small bit of purple. I guess the bonus is I’ll have some seeds for future grows. The down side is I now have to sterilize my tent. I’m assuming that if it was the Goldleaf that hermied my Banana Kush seeds will be a cross of the two? That plant looks like it just went way past the point of optimum harvest. Like others have said take a bud out for a spin. The high from my GL is actually really nice, a calm mellow buzz.

Did the plant lose all of its leaves, or did you defoliate it? Cause I don’t see any leaves in your pics…

Hi guys first time growing on my balcony in Long Island, NY but I’m worried my plant isn’t growing healthy any pointers ? Or can I trim leaves that are looking weak?
