Harvest issue - gold leaf

Nicky, ,I would agree with you however the bud leaves turned brown weeks ago, I did not have nutes to ck, organic grow, I did turn down the lite at that time but it continued to brown. The Trichomes NEVER grew large, but there are many small ones. I too agree this will be a couch lock batch at best, will not grow this strain again as there are to many great stains out there that do very well…

As burnt as it looks is is not and the odor is very strong. Doubt that could be if “cooked”.

I’m gonna hang them up and see what happens. Will take a sample as is and post.

That’s a strange looking plant. I was going to try the gold leaf, but I’ve changed my mind.

I would show you my journal but that section no longer exists I got almost 14 oz of green buds full of trics and it got even better with a long cure I just finished it off and this grow was two years ago if a plant is rootbound uppot to a bigger size if a plant becomes discolered fix it don’t blame genetics or you will never develop as a grower better luck next time use this grow I have mixed feelings about ilgm but I have never grown a plant from there seeds. That did not make me happy with the results and. That’s at least 8 strains hang in there you’ll get it

Type in gold leaf in ilgm search bar and you will see all types of journals with gold leaf even some first timers nailing it :v:

SPARKY66, "Bergman’s Lab is next to your name. Are you associated with ilgm/bergman?

I am confused: You stated you grew gold leaf “14 oz of green buds full of trics and it got even better with a long cure”. Then later it seems like you have not grown the product. maybe I am not reading u correctly?

But the fact that you were loaded w/ trics and other good stuff, supports my “poor genic” theory, as I never got that out of them. Also, I did not blame the result on being root-bound. I did re-pot as needed and the plant grew like wildfire each time but never produced the buds and trics as expected. Again, I am not blaming anything, that is why I am here asking and hoping someone can show me a good-looking goal leaf,. Without additional info, I will not waste my time on the seeds I still have. There are many other stable seeds/genetics out there that will perform as expected (most of the time). No big deal we all can get poor seeds… Whatever the problem, I’m going to hang’m and move on…

Thank you!!

No association with ilgm whatsoever I grew two years ago just finished last jar look I disagree with you about the seed being bad something happened whether it’s pest a plant disease or whatever you will probably know more after harvest anyway I am not going to try and change your mind we agree to disagree👍🏻

Hey Dex,

I’m with you. Until someone shows me differently, there is no reason for this plant to look this way. Time to move one… Have a good one!!

Hey sparky, “agree to disagree” yes as we may never know what the problem is.
What I do know is the environment has worked well for different strains, but not for this one.
Also, this post from Nicky makes sense to me, what about you: Nicky

Pictures will help.

Two major factors, genetics and environment.

To grow strong plants a good breeze is important from the first week onward.
Nutrients, lights, temperature etc it’s all important.

Genetics also plays a large roll, you see if you had 10 gold leaf seeds and you plant all of them you would find multiple different plants.

Just curious: If ur plant produced great product as expected and mine did not, ever produce anything but mediocre product, how can you hang this on now being root bound and not repotting bc it is time to harvest? Insects, had a few that hit the grease trap and did not have the guts to try that again. The plant never look right but for it’s ability to grow tall and large. All of this was evident very soon after blushing…

Not arguing here, looking to discuss if u want.

Genetics possibly.

Even if you planted 10 gold leaf seeds you would probably get 8 different plants.

Pheno types and we don’t know the genetic stability.

That’s a huge factor unless your growing from clone it’s hard to say.

I’m glad it’s still strong I had one like that here

Still turned out fine.

Who doesn’t like a nice couch lock and Netflix chill with munchies until I pass out with the tv on
Strain lol

I agree with nicki genetics are important a grower can only bring out what’s in the seed I was happy with the result and I’ve probably read at least 10 gold leaf journal all of them similar results I’ve never seen a plant that brown before and when you have multi generations you can have variation I understand that I am 99 percent sure gold leaf is a white widow cross and a very hearty plant which is my experience with gold leaf I do think you will no more when you harvest and seeds can pass on disease also with that being said a lot of organic growers reuse their soil which unless reamended properly a soil test is 25$ at tractor supply that’s probably the only way you will know for sure but that plant looks fried to a crisp I have a hard time believing that came from a seed😀

I will let you know in a few weeks.

And my smoke report on gold leaf is if you like white widow you’ll like gold leaf but it did take me where I want to go now is it the best thing since sliced bread no

@Myfriendis410 a fellow grower needs help any thoughts

Hey Nicky, at this stage in ur grow, how would you rate the trics, odor, stickiness?
Mine did look like urs but I continued to push it bc the trics looked underdeveloped, not to mention color and maturity. In my opinion, my trics never developed so I kept pushing it w/ light, they continued to brown as urs are beginning, and now they are too dry. (I think this sums up my issue, but still reflects on the seed used).

Any tricks to re-hydrate the buds once stored? The yield will not be great but I am hoping 62% humidity will restore what is there.

How do you rate the final product of the GL you grew?

Do I understand correctly? You like GL better than ww?
Why do you hang out here if you are not sure about ilgm? (I have the same thoughts)
What other forums can you recommend that you find useful?
How did you store ur GL for 2 yrs?

Thank you!

That plant I showed you was my 2nd indoor grow and is a distent memory, it was an cheese autoflower. Terps wernt really there I don’t think.

Once a plant looks like it’s dieing like mine, just harvest it before that. Some don’t develop well and that’s genetics but controlling your lighting is important so read my DLI guide to understand lighting.

Get some grove bags, like 5 gallon ones or 1lb ones and toss the whole plant in one single container. If the buds are below 62% you have lost terps but you can at least re hydrate the buds with a cut lime or lemon but replace it every 24hr until the humidity gets up there to 62%.

Ilgm is the best forum of all the big ones but as many other breeders like royal queen seeds, crop King etc the genetics are not top of the line on some strains.
I hear iglm green crack is good.

What other confirmation are you looking for when asking to see other people’s grow in comparison to this statement I highly doubt you’ll find a grow journal on this forum where anyone did this

Again I disagree cause it germinated and grew…

I’m seriously not being rude here just feel that your argument,

and this is what this is because a discussion isn’t always countered with the same preface over and over no matter how many different suggestions are laid out in front of you,

Isn’t valid….if you think you’ve done everything possible that’s fine…it’s your grow…again not being rude…but the fact is I know the people helping you here (and this isn’t taking away from your skill) KNOW what they are talking about…:unamused: maybe your next grow will be better and let’s hope it is

When I can afford it I’m going to get me some gold leaf and if it grows like yours @George_Mount ill be happy

Well stated man!
I am gonna order a 5 pack of seed just out of sick curiosity, yep I’m that guy that cant help look at the car crash on the highway. If I get what he has, albeit I like cloudy trichs, I’ll be happy too.

I’m out of likes but due to a recent hijacking of my phone that almost got me banned from this forum I’ve felt I needed to correct what bad karma that instance has brought me….I haven’t blatantly supported the person who was wronged by tagging them each time but they know who they are and they’re not wrong in almost every post I’ve read that concerns them including in this thread…just know you’re awesome and apologies were truly meant

Thanks Nicky, I took another look at your pic of the GL. Mine did look just like that. If this is common, then it appears my error was trying to push the grow past this point to increase the trics, etc… I agree, I should have stopped the grow at that time and cashed in my chips…

Genetics is a very complicated subject that I claim no fame to understanding. Every time I try to figure it out I get stumped by a recessive gene that pops up unexpectantly.
I have not used grove bags. Are they completely automatic re: humidity? No need for adding other humidity bags? Are they a one-time use? If not how long do they last?

I think we have beat this topic to death, but I do thank all of you for helping…

Is there a post on organic growing?
Does anyone know how to use a r/o system (connection) for scheduled watering?

Tks, again!!
