Hardening off indoor plants

Hi everyone, I’m a newbie grower and I’ve got some seeds started indoors to be planted outdoors soon. Was wondering if anyone has any tips to prepare/harden them off to go outside?

Put them outside in full sun for a couple hours a day. I don’t even do that. After a couple weeks old, I just plant them outside

I worried about the cold. The days are pleasant, but it’s still cold at night

How cold is it at night?
And how old are your plants?

42 F about 1 month. 2 not looking great 1553732247571194029511|281x500

let’s try that (pic) again

I should add that I just transplanted the larger ones today

As long as your outdoor soil temps are above 52°, you will be GTO, I plan on putting mine in the ground this week, tomorrow looks to be the last night of sub 40° night of the year. Don’t know were you are located, that makes a difference, also, are you growing in containers or in the ground?

On a side note, those containers are too small. 5gal min for outdoor, 3 for indoor. I also recommend fabric grow bags, your girls will show their appreciation in the end.

Nah, these are temporary. They’re not staying at my house and their future owner has 10 gal fabric

Which makes sticking them outside for a few hours impossible BC I live in an apartment and they don’t have lights lol :person_tipping_hand:

I would bring them inside at nite time
42f is chilly and although they are fine at 42f it will slow down growth
Putting them out door during the day and pull em back in at nite until evening temps get 60*f and above
Speaking form experience my friend

I know you said the pots you have em in are temporary but they are gonna get root bound fast in those things
I would give them a week or less in those containers before the will need transplanted
Happy growing
I think they look real good but get those tiny ones into some bigger containers soon
They are already root bound

IMO those bigger pots or fine for now you won’t have any problems for a while

To anyone who is curious, I transplanted the 2 small plants this morning and they were no where near root bound. I think I over watered them at one point was whats going on. Wish em luck!

I would love it if he would build a greenhouse for them. Maybe he’ll get more “into” it and invest more as they progress and grow. Its a beautiful thing helping something grow!

If you have a greenhouse does it have to be in direct sun for the plants to thrive?
