I’m thinking my Gsc is foxtailing she is in week 7 flower. Should I harvest a bit early or keep her going for a bit more?
No
You have 2 weeks or more ahead of you
Doesnt look like foxtailing to me.
Hey @elementhc I think @Docnraq is right on with a negative on the foxtailing. You should be light on nitrogen at this point in your grow. Let your plants root get a little dryer at this point and try and keep the humidity down, especially during the dark period. What is your light schedule?
Photos aside, you are on an extremely early side of the avg grow length for this plant. 10-14 weeks acording to ILGM. You mentioned 7 weeks flower hiw many total weeks are you? id be looking to go at least until 90% of the hairs are red. So the question comes down to odds. Do you think you have massive foxtailing as well as have a plant finished 3 weeks early then projected? Its totaly possible Im just wondering where you think you have landed. You are there with your plant not me. Harvest. See what happens or wait another few days and rethink the issue. Im not sure there is a wrong answer. Except for inaction.
If your worried about foxtails eliminate the stresses that cause em, excess nitrogen, excess light and excess heat. Its best if you can get them to stop. Looking on the web seems alot of gsc look like this as they come up. My advice stands.
It happens Brother. As much as she is covered I would say this is genetics or stressors. If the others growing beside her are good then most likely genetic. Still very smokable just a pain to trim. What do the Trichomes show as far as milky to clear ratio?
with the fox tails down low like this leads me to believe it’s not lighting intensity and more genetic
@Docnraq @OGIncognito LateNightGardner thanks for the reply boys. Please see below for info on grow:
Lighting 450w Ts3000 24" from main cola at 75% light intensity.
Water every 3 days 1 gallon of RO water / 20% tap water to stabilize PH. I do molasses and Roots organics elemental once a week and compost tea once every two weeks or so.
Day temp is 74-78 RH 48%-55%
Night temp 68 RH 54%
Super Soil NLS mix in 5 gallon fabric pots
I have kept her within the optimal VPD entire grow.
With your guy’s advice I will keep on going with her for a week or two and keep checking trichomes ever day because I would say they look about 80% or more milky. According to the trichomes she looks a week or so to harvest but this is my first grow so I’m not 100% sure.
Here are some more trichome pic
They are looking ripe. Should be about time to just do the RO water for the next week. If you want you can do a bit of wet trim to eliminate any leaves that are dead or close to it. If they’re not green they’re not photosynthesizing.
Nice grow @elementhc !!
@elementhc one thing you could attempt is to simulate Fall by slowly reducing hours per day on your schedule, say an hour later in the am and another I. The pm plus a reduction in intensity. Tell her the end is near. It’s an attractive plant regardless.
@LateNightGardner @Fieldofdreams appreciate you brother, I’m just happy to finish my first grow!!!
@Fieldofdreams @LateNightGardner @Docnraq @OGIncognito do you think my GG4 is about the same time line for harvest as the GSC? They are both from the same current grow but the GG4 has alot more orange pistols almost all of them but not as much amber trichomes.
@elementhc theyre in the same ballpark but may still need a staggered hop to ensure you get the trichs perfectly where you want them each to be!! Tons of buds you got there!!!
That’s will work out perfect for you @elementhc. The GSC can be pulled and hung and a few days later get after the Gorilla.
Nice
Asked and answered. Great work growmie!
Very impressive first grow! I see younger plants in the background. Auto’s also?
@Fieldofdreams @LateNightGardner @OGIncognito @MeEasy @Docnraq @CC_Mo thanks boy’s. The little ones are my first go at Photos other then this Ethos Mandarin Cookies V2 that has been vegging next to this auto grow for 10 weeks just transplanted it into a 10 gallon pot its starting to pre-flower plan is to put it under a net tomorrow.
I’m kinda stuck at the moment because the Mandarin is at 10 weeks in veg and my other 5 photos are at 5 weeks veg and still kinda small so I need to flip the Mandarin but if I do that I will end up with the other 5 photos on the small side.
I think in next five days I will flip the tent to 12/12 no matter what because the Mandarin is getting kinda big. Does that sound like the right thing to do in this situation?
@elementhc short of buying a separate tent setup or dragging somebody outside (depending on where you are) we do what we have to when we must!! Good luck!! Keep us posted!!
@Fieldofdreams I have a 5x5 but its currently being used as a drying tent, and the wife will kill me if I put another tent in the basement hahahaha
@elementhc mine too!
Personally I would flip them all. I veg photos for 6 weeks and get great yields. With a 5 x 5 and 5 plants you’re going to be fighting space issues, humidity and poor under the canopy circulation. Lollipopping will help when that times comes. Once you flip it’ll be 7-10 days before they start flowering so you’ll get an extra week of veg. Just my experience with always growing more than my space can handle. I flipped 6 white Widows at 4 weeks for a SOG in a 3 x 4 all in 3 gallon bags and the was wall to wall. Pulled 1.3 pounds dry weight of golf ball size buds
