I always used the fabric bags but I understand there are some plastic/weave types out now that are just as good and easily cleaned and reused…

Ive always used fabric pots but there are a few people here who like to use the oxy pots and the rain science mesh bags

Welcome.
I am a big fan of Rain Science bags. I also use fabric pots which is my second choice. First grow was in 5 gallon plastic nursery pots. No thank you.

Fabric pots really help the roots from my experience. I grow hydro now but I started with soil and learned quickly to use the smart pots rather than plastic. The roots were so much more dense in the fabric pots compared to plastic pots @1AlexandMax

I use fabric bags now. I did not have enough last year so used a a few plastic pots in the outside grow. Both types grew nice plants.

My only complaint about fabric bags I have is that the handles can tear off. We had to move all the plants from the grow area to put in a new fence.

I forgot to ask in addition to the type of pot, what size do you recommend for example, auto flower white widow? Appreciate all answers. It seems a little overwhelming at the moment with so much to learn. Thank you so very much for your patience and input!

Indoors I use threes but others use 5 and 7s. Outdoors I suggest nothing smaller than a 10G.

I think @MeEasy uses 5’s indoors and he grows some beauties!

Also use the round ones. The squares don’t retain a square shape.

Welcome to the community ! 5 gallon is a good size for indoor grow. You won’t go wrong with fabric pots. :v::+1:

Welcome. I am totally over plastic pots for any plants I care about. I grow hydro now, but my original grow was in fabric pots. The plants love them, and I still use them for my container garden outside. What I REALLY LOVE Is how easy they are to deal with at the end of the growing season—dump the dirt into a big bin, shake them out and stick them in the washer. Fold them up till next season. Easy, Peasy!

Bags weigh more when wet and full with dirt. New to growing? I recommend using 5 gal HD CLOTH BAGS. 4/5 full, leaving room for top dressing. Drip pan requirement. Reasonable and my ultipmate choice. Dixie cups up to 10 gal inventory (17 gallon plastic bin didn’t do well and took 1/4 garden).
Bags seem to breath better than plastic buckets. Good growing to you.

So far I’ve used fabric, 5 gallon buckets and airpots. Definitely prefer the fabric over anything else atm.

I use used dry wall mud buckets drill a crap load of holes in them.

Both tried, but bags react faster, IMO.

What size is your grow space and future plant count? I grow in 2 and 3 gallon fabric pots with good results :love_you_gesture:

In my opion fabric is the way to go, roots look so much healthier when transplanting (I’ve only done it 2x though )

I started with cheap plastic 2 gallon pots. By full bloom, had to water every 2 days.

Now, I use 3 gal grow bags and am very happy
