Growing a S.O.G. Right Away

@kaptain3d Howdy, Kapt. I was in debate on a dressing for the wound. I always use a drop of honey when I’m topping at least on the bigger cuts. This is a long split. The wood inside is dry, I’m guessing it’s been broken for some time. I think I would prefer to use the Aloe. What type of commercialy available aloe would you recommend? I was unsure. Would you use the pulp from the aloe leaf itself ? I was concerned about having that much honey under there drawing ants, would it ? I appreciate you Kapt. You’re always here to help. Thank you.

That’s what I’ve always used.

Ants aren’t so bad by themselves, imo. The thing is they tend to farm aphids…
The downside is you might get aphids. The upside is they get “coralled” in one place/branch so are easy to get rid of at harvest time. (In my limited experience). I’ve had it happen twice on my vines…

Wow that’s interesting. Aphid wranglers. This plants inside so I’m not especially worried about bugs. I don’t want sugar ants in the growroom. Last year I had a plant outside that I noticed little sugar ants going up and down the trunk… Yep you know what was going on. They had those aphids giving it up. I use the canna friendly pesticides and spray 2x’s weekly outside. Religiously. I’m careful coming and going in the growroom and inspect thoroughly. I usually don’t spray inside unless I find a critter. I use Growers Ally Miticide with really brilliant results. It kills on contact with very high efficacy. Capt. Jacks dead-bug (spinosad) and BT as needed. Its a good regimen.

I’ve heard others speak about using aloe but haven’t myself. I will be as soon as I can find some. I will get some growing here. I think it is a natural repellent for insects and has incredible healing properties. Just never used it on the weed. Not sure why. Do you know if aloe has fungicidal benefit?. That’s my biggest concern . There is not much light penetration to that area .

It sure looked like it had to me as well.

Howdy @dbrn32 . Good to see you , Guru. I just learned so much about aloe Vera, and will be applying some tomorrow. It contains so many valuable properties. Not the least of which are gibberellins and cytokins which will trigger cellular growth to speed the healing process and a natural occurring Fungicide and antibacterial . I cannot believe I’m just discovering this at 62. What kinda hippie am I ? lmao

Putting spotlights on the garden for an hour or so each night. I’ve got a couple plants that are still trying to flower because of the shortness of the daylight. I think they look pretty cool lit up…

Time for a hippy dippy :desert_island: now you need to learn about coconut water benefits.

Coconut water is comprised of natural sugar, carbohydrates, proteins, auxins, free form amino acids, IAA indole, fats and fatty acids, gibberellins, cytokinins, plus vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Coconut water provides nutrition for the plant itself, and at the same time, it provides nutrition and sugars for the micro heard.

When would be the best time to use coconut water? And do you dilute it? At what rate if you do?

You’ve piqued my curiosity Sir BudWhisperer. :eyes:

You use it for clones to aid in rooting and a mild food. You can use it from seedlings up till mid flowering. I buy horticultural cnut powder that’s picked at prime enzymatic count. You can get organic cnut from grocery stores to use. It just stars at a higher dose (1-2 tbs/gal).

I must admit I’ve never even thought about coconut water. I do like to drink it myself. I’ve only had it fresh. I’ve used banana water . I’m thinking aloe, coconut , banana water would probably make a food that would blow your mind.
I’ve got a question for y’all. It’s overcast and forecast to be like this for 2 weeks. Humid and looking like rain at any moment. Cool temps in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. The outside girls are in 30 gal bags with the promix/perlite media. (Previously used excellent high draining mix). What do you guys think about feeding in these conditions? I’m watching for any type of drying and they just aren’t. I’m using the Jacks 3-2-1 at 75% strength.I am tempted to run a gal each on them . There’s plenty of air in the media. What’s y’alls thoughts on this ?

@Lightbrightt2010 Howdy, Young united. Hows your day going ? So do you think I should give the girls a little sip of the good stuff ??? I’m poised with bucket at the ready…

Just feed the dang girls. That’s all these women want is to be loved and fed.

:joy:

When I had girls outside, under the same conditions, I would feed them as usual. Keeping in mind that the constant rains will flush some nutrients away.

I don’t use salts, so i default to above posts. Soil-less mediums can take wet better than soil. Humid-not drying, makes sense, with transpiration. I’d not feed and take chance of burning from transpiring or at least reduce nute concentration. Raining frequently-humid-not drying, nutes get diluted with the rains so I’d feed.

Good Evening, Pharmers. Good advice from y’all, thanks for responding everybody. I ended up getting a few hours of sunshine today. I gave 2 plants that were dryer then the others a gal each. The rest I let dry some more. This next couple weeks promises to be damp. We will see what transpires. Speaking of transpirtation @Budbrother you’ve brought up an interesting conversation topic. How often do you think that is reason for burnt leaf tips ? Indoors or out ? I think it’s more often then we recognize.
Excited about this indoor Blueberry Pancakes. I grew it outside but not indoors til now…

overnight, it seems , the aromas just started popping. Strong Blueberry cobbler smells up in there. Then I come over to this Jelly Donutz and same thing just overnight the smells are unreal

Indoors less often cause of controlled enviro. Outdoors would make it harder to spot with constant leaf damage/general leaf loss. One would have to know the growing environment to clue in.

Happy Memorial Weekend, Pharmers. A HUGE Thank You , to all the Veterans, for their service and a somber reminder of all those that paid the Ultimate price for Our Country. FREEDOM ISN’T FREE.

The weed is growing along nicely. The canopy is entering week 2 of flower and I’ve raised and increased the light intensity. Getting nice bud formation overall. Interesting the subtle differences between plants of the same strain. And I think I see some different strains as well. There are 2 plants that I’m almost certain are offspring of the Blueberry Cupcakes x Vanilla Frosting tester I ran on the last run. I hope it is. That is a indica on indica cross that is unique, interesting and powerful. I’m pleased as punch the way things are progressing…

The clone table is a week behind the canopy still getting a gentle 750ppfd and coming along well…

I’m actually supposed to get 1/2 a day of sunshine. I’ll believe it when I see it. The outdoor plants are holding their own in less than ideal conditions. I’ve got a load of Promix moisture control potting soil on the way. The plants start getting spread into their separate beds soon…

Y’all take time to blow some smoke over a Warriors grave this weekend. Bring a cake to a vet. Give somebody a hug and tell them how appreciated they are.

Happy Growing

Thank You, Guru. That means alot coming from a man of your vast and intimate knowledge of the Art of Canna. I got bit by the big tree bug when I was young. I see some real potential here. The sun actually came out for 1/2 the day today. I’m actually getting pretty excited for this summers grow.

The girls inside started reeking a couple days ago. Its funny how the olfactory system works. I was thinking these plants need to gain some odor and like the next day it hit. It was time for resin production to pick up.

No worries we’re there now. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Happy Growing.
