@peachfuzz has a good setup maybe @Myfriendis410 has pictures to. It’s like a home made chiller made out of a water jug or something.
Many who use these successfully either do it in a cold basement with concrete floors or you end up needing a chiller I think.
Chillers are so expensive though and you could buy a 4 pot autopot system for the price of a chiller
There are many many growers who have tried to do a ghetto chiller and none of them work. I have seen dorm 'fridges used with some kind of coolant and a copper coil but even that is a pain. If you’re gonna do hydro; buy a chiller and call it good.
@Nicky@CMichGrower@Myfriendis410 Guys I’m not sure if it matters or not, but I literally only need to drop the temp like 4-5 degrees, and between my window AC unit and this little set up I should be able to accomplish it, when I wake up first thing in the morning it’s usually right around 70-71 then gradually climbs not higher than 75,which tells me it drops a few degrees on its own over night, so I’m just trying to avoid being in the 70’s at all, I’m ok with 65-68,and I believe I can accomplish that with what I’m doing, if anyone disagrees please let me know, cuz I’d say if I had a CONSTANT mid to high 70’s, then it’d call for the $$250-$500 spent on a chiller, I just been told that the 70’s is when problems start, so keep in the 60’s and use bennies and it’ll be ok
Well gentlemen…
I will say that my outside temps hit 132 degrees and I’m still able to keep my environment in check…
In my vegg , my temps might hit 81 degrees with no issues…
Roots might be a little brown , but I just wash and clean them when I move them around…
Plant’s in flower are never an issue either…
I keep room temps at 75 to 80 degrees with no issues…
No chillers in my future…
You must remember that I usually run 3 table’s in flower with three , 600 watt hps in xxxl air cooled hoods with magnetic ballist’s all in my flower room…
Anything is possible…
Hoy much work do you want to create for yourself…
I work enough as it is…
My system is turnkey and could be made to fit almost anywhere…
I believe that most growers start to worry way too much way too fast…
You can bring them back from death , depending on what the situation is…
Usually it will be bugs or fungus that will destroy a crop and many others to come if you don’t clean everything …
Yes, however you have other means of rejecting heat from the grow space. In my case I don’t need a chiller because my basement sits at 65F 24/7.
In general I will stand by what I said before as I’ve seen dozens of home made chiller setups and none were satisfactory, other than the one Tim (Tdub) did a few years ago.
I run general hydroponics, micro , grow and bloom + armor-si + diamond nectar + cal-mag + hydrogard + orca + hormex in vegg…
I also add emerald triangle crystal burst , snow storm ultra , magnum and g-13 when in flower…
That’s about it I believe…
I have a pic somewhere… lol
My recipe never really changes , I have a base schedule that I run on regardless of what the plant’s look like at the time…
I forgot the turpinator…
But I actually haven’t used any in the last few runs…
I was just out…
You know what F*** this I’m buying 10 inch ducting and taping it to my window AC unit, and running it to where it’s blasting my DWC buckets and make it to where it’s getting blocked from going into the room as best as I can, cuz 2 things 1)I wasted money yesterday trying to buy shit to help keep shit cool and 2) don’t I have to have my system recirculating to even be able to utilize a chiller, IF I decided to buy one?
@peachfuzz@CMichGrower@Covertgrower@BobbyDigital is this chiller suitable for my needs of chilling my 2 DWC buckets and if so, do I need to switch to recirculating? And if I need to make the switch, I need I food step by step diagram to build a decent 2 bucket RDWC?
I don’t use one or have one , but I do have idea’s on what I might do , but I don’t think I would be able to make it work in a 2 bucket system…
Let’s ask @Grandaddy013 …
