Thanks, A/C/ it will be. I see the new units can be ran all day and cost almost nothing to run.
@raustin, I saw in a few post that you know a few things about edibles. I have a friend that can’t smoke so he uses the edibles for medical issues. Does it make much difference in the THC level of the plants you make the canna butter with or which plant you use? He has a pretty high tolerance to cannabis. The chocolate bars one of the dispensarys here is making them at some thing like 100mg or around there if i remember right. It could be more. I would like to help him out down the road if possible.
The THC in the plant will definitely make a difference, but you can make edibles out of any plant and get a very good product, especially if you use buds rather than sugar leaves. Depending on how much bud you use in your butter will determine how strong it is. Getting the dosage just right is difficult unless you have a lab to tell you the content of your THC, but I like to experiment. Good for you for trying to help a friend with edibles. If his tolerance is high, I would use about 12 grams of flower per cup of butter. That should work.
Thanks, He is always helping me with stuff. So I told him he would get the first oz to use for making his edibles. I saw the bannana kush is supposed to have 27% THC. I may try growing that after i get a few clean grows under my belt. I am reading up on how to make the canna butter right now. Save the info for down the road. I have gone a little over board on buying seeds for some one that has not even finished one plant lol. I have 11 different strains waiting to get a turn at growing. I had to tell my self, No more getting seeds till I start using some of what I have. I think I have become addicted to this hobby here.
Lol, yeah, this hobby is very addicting. I also have way too many seeds waiting to be planted.
Could you tag me on one of your grows too please. i start reading threads from others but then can’t find them again later to follow. I saw not long ago that you were just starting to grow again. If that wasn’t an old post.
Yes, that was me! In fact I just harvested my last grow yesterday, so you can read from beginning to end. I’ll tag you in.
Thank you. I find that just tagging a long. I am learning a great deal. I don’t always understand every thing that is being talked about. Seems every one here is pretty advanced. I am in awe with some of the grows done on here. Every one makes it look so simple.
Actually, I made my grow journal very easy to understand for newbs, so I hope you find it informative. Don’t be intimidated by the pros, there are lots of people here that are doing their first grows. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Shy I am not lol I am surprised mattyBear and Myfriendis410 have stuck with me as long as they have. I have been asking them a ton of questions. I have learned a great deal from them. With having no issues yet. I have been able to really relax and start enjoying this again. When I go to water these ladies now. I don’t go in expecting the worst any more. Now I look forward to going in to see if they have grown any. They look like they are very happy little people. I did start reading that journal you are talking about. Now I know what to look for to continue reading. One thing I have noticed is I am learning as much from troubles others have that are new. Some are refreshers for me. Reminding me what not to do again. I have found feeding these every third day as to every other day really seems to be helping me. I guess only time will teach me patients.
Our mistakes are what teach us the most. New people seeing other’s problems is always a plus as they can learn how to fix that problem, but also no need to panic, most things can be fixed.
Terminology will be easier for you the longer you are here. Don’t understand a phrase? Ask and it shall be given unto you…
I realized that I probably over reacted to some of my issues with the last grow. i started changing this with out giving time for the change before that. I let my self get so frustrated with the brown leaves last time that I am sure I just kept pushing the problems farther a long by not being patient. When I hd the issue with my ph being to high this time. I just kept watering as suggested and waited it out. The plants looked good so I just kept going, hoping all would come out good in the end. last night I finally got my ph under 6.5. It took some to figure out, when I tried doing radical ph changes to get where I wanted. I was only making things worse. I have stayed with a 5.8 - 5.9 and it seems to be working it self out. I know there were a few of you here that kept trying to tell me that. in the end. I did get it figured out I think. To bad they were all male plants.
So, if you guys and ladies keep pushing me a long. My win will be basically your win.
So here’s to hoping for another 3 great weeks.
@Not2SureYet 12000 btus is good for 400-500 square feet
Thanks. That is just what I need for my living room. The plant room is a little 10x10 area. I moved the dehumidifier out of the tent and into the room tonight. I haven’t had to use it for the last week. I see I am back to 61rh in there now. I will probably still get the smaller a/c for the grow room. Then I get both issues taken care of before it gets warm here. I have an older a/c unit in there right now. it uses more juice than a new one would. Still not bad, uses about 700w. A new one is closer to 440w. If we ever get up to 75 or so, I will see where I am at for the day using what I have. I just want to be prepared. The last few years we have seen to many days over 100. Not normal for this area. We are normally high high 70s - high 80s in the summer. I am also still waiting for the ph to come down for the plants. The B.D. are staying at 6.1 & 6.2. The B.B.is down to 6.8 Every one looks fine though and are still growing. I hope it stays that way. I notice a drop of about .1 each time I feed. I want to try feeding every other day but an scared to try since every thing is going great right now.
I am not sure how MattyBear knows, but Happy B-day @Myfriendis410 if it is your Birthday. He must have better connections than I do
I wouldn’t say that brother
Im a commercial Hvac guy so i dont want you to be surprised when you get that first bill
The most efficient inits are the ductless split systems but initial cost is high on them
I run a portable unit in my grow room dual tube type i keep it set to 78 degrees it obviously runs more in summer when heat is higher
I run my lights at night as well to help with heating and cooling costs
Justbfood fir thought @Not2SureYet
Thanks for the info. I was just going by there advertised cost for a year running 8 hours a day. I know my old window unit little one is not bad. I hardly notice it on my bill. We also get commercial electric rates here so that helps a lot. I am running my lights at night as well. It may not be the best for me. The humidity levels are a lot higher here at nigh. I am at 68rh in the room right now and 64 in the tent. I may have to go with a full sized dehumidifier to be covered at night. What do you think? During the day the RH seems to drop quiet a bit. Normally down to about 45. The little dehumidifier I have now is supposed to be good for 215 sq ft. I can see now it is not up to the job for a full room.
The little cake emoji next to his name…
Thanks @FloridaSon. I have a new question. What would you do?
I will be finishing week 4 tomorrow. My plants couldn’t be better. I wanted to start feeding them a little more. Right now. They are getting fed every third day at 1/3 strength. Last feeding the ppm in was 581. Run off was 209. My ph in is 5.9 and out is between 6.1 - 6.3. It is dropping slowly over time. Here are my thoughts on increasing the nutes
- feed the 1/2 strength every 3rd day
- feed them 1/3 strength every other day
- feed them 1/4 strength every day for 3 days then just water the 4th day
- just keep on as I am
Here are pictures from today, one day shy of 4 weeks.
I will post the pictures after this one.
I am hoping you are not going to tell me what I think. This is my number 2 B.D. these are supposed to be feminized seeds. I didn’t check them before starting them. The other plants has a bunch of the white pistols. I don’t see any on this. it is also 4 weeks old tomorrow. Could it just be running late? Or could this be a male. I am just posting one picture so you can zoom in.
Thanks
