Grow journal----Blue Dream auto & Big Bud auto. Round two

Thanks. Yep, that was a great article. I am cutting mine down today. I put them in the dark a few days ago. I noticed it almost looked like a few buds were starting to dry up on #2. I did see a couple orange trichomes on them. I am going to get them trimmed up in just a few. First I need to grab a bite t eat. A friend is coming by to help with the trimming. he needs to learn too. I am giving him 2 starter plants to work with. After these are all done. It is off to the lake for a few days. It was not an easy decision for that. I figure they closet I will be drying in should be fine. I have a dehumidifier in there and a fan. my sister will water the other 2 plants while I am gone. I have a humidity gauge set into one of the doors. So I can keep an eye on it with out having to open it up. my sister can let me know if it goes over 60. I don’t see any issues though. I will be back friday night. They should survive a couple days on their own. I will try and post a few pictures before I head out

@Not2SureYet

I don’t have the time to read thru your tread. But what week of flower are you in ?
Cause if your getting real close to harvest your leafs will start to yellow cause you have cut back on N and more P K for flower.
Don’t worrie if your 2 to 1 1/2 weeks from harvest.
And from the pic’s you posted you are very close… am I right ?

I am at week 12. I just put them in the 36 HR dark and started to trim them today. So far about 5 hours in and almost done with the first plant. it was a learning one since a lot of it will be used to make butter with. I started to see a couple orange trichomes. I decided I better finish this up now for a couple reasons.
First I wanted this for a mostly head high.
Second, I noticed that 2 of my top colas started to look like I was all ready drying them out.
Third. I really need the tent space if I want super good buds on the other 2 plants. My tent was so full a lot of the lower buds are fluffy. I did a week and a half flush before putting them into dark. I am in coco so the TDS dropped right away. My leaves were all getting yellow and dying off. I do know waiting one more week would have been best. But I didn’t want to loose the lower half of the B.B. like I may on some of these. I hope they will still be ok for butter. if not. I will except the loss and a learning lesson.

For every one. I am sorry to only be in and out today. I am hoping some one may catch this and be able to give me a quick answer. I am taking a break to feed the other gilrs, my dog and my self. I will check back after dinner and then back to hopefully finish this tonight. I am also hoping every thing fits in the closet. If not. I get to spend more time setting the 3x3 tent up to dry in.
Thank you for the help

Oh yeah, the question. Is this trimmed enough or should I do more. I will check back in about 45 minutes, then back to work. This is one from #2
Thanks :grinning:

I like my buds trimmed nice and close. I see some leaves that can be cut off.

Thank you. I am hoping to have them done by midnight. I am pretty burnt out all ready. These will take a little longer I think because they are super sticky. The other ones were as well, just not like these.

@raustin, yes they are wet still. I didn’t know if a little bit of the leaves would just tighten up on the bud and be ok. I want these to be nice since the will be the ones for smoke.
Thank every one. If I am not to burnt out when these are done. I will try and pot a picture or 2. That one in the picture is 55.4 grams. That is pretty much how most of that plant is. So maybe I will make the oz per plant that my goal was.
Catch you in a few
Thanks for the instant reply @raustin, @garrigan62, @anon95385719

Sounds like a decent haul, so far! Hang in there, man. I enjoy trimming, personally, but I also only do one plant at a time. And I just get high and force my way through it, trying not to obsess about every little tiny leaf. I just make them somewhat “pretty” and remove enough so that it’s not harsh.

My Big Bud Autos, day 65

First off, I would like to say thank you for all the help every one has given me. This grow went really well. As I was trimming. I realized this would probably be a lot easier to do id i smoked. It has probably been the early 80s since i have seen a bud. I couldn’t remember if they had a small amount of the leaf showing when they were dry or not. I also was checking out a lot of these with the magnifying glass as I went. I then realized what some of you were telling me about the calyx swelling up. I got the see the buds close up which helped the most… I could see on some how more time would have really let them plump up. So even though my yield will be less than it could have. I can take what I have learned and apply it to the other 2 plants in the tent.
The B.B. will be starting week 11 tomorrow. As a guess. it may still have another month to go. @TwilightZone, Yours looks great. Mine is stacking on buds but is more in the beginning stage I think. I think it was more focused on being the biggest in the tent LOL
Also, I am sorry for not getting a bunch of pictures. Trimming these did a number on me. I am still tired today. I did manage to get in the room and clean every thing up. Tomorrow I will pull the AK out and put it back in the 3x3. This way both plants will have there own tent. I will then see about how to best get more light to the lower part of the plant.
When I was finished. I was thinking. I don’t really smell any thing for all the time spent with the plants. I took my dog out to use the bathroom and when I came back in. I could really smell every thing. These have a some what sweet smell. Un like the skunk I was expecting. It has been nice out so I have had all the windows open to air the place out. Humidity is back to normal too. 48 RH out there right now and in the closet with the buds.
Oh yeah, when should I check on these for the first time?
Other than feeding tonight. I think I am done for the day. Now to catch up on all the threads here. I have over 100 e-mail notices. Seems every one else has been busy here too
Thanks again. can’t wait to show what you have grown
@FloridaSon, I remember you not having good luck with your big bud. I am going to say the autos are easy to grow if I did it  It is turning out to be a nice plant too. It might be worth another sot.

I feel your pain @Not2SureYet, I am in a country that has rain 365 a year almost, and it’s bloody one season here for 12 months except summer…that was last Wednesday :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: The humidity lately goes even crazier.
If you ask a child if it ever stops raining here they will respond with ‘how should I know, I am only 7 years old’ :joy:

Dehumidifier puls out a whopping 1.5 little every 4 hours I think:/ that’s why I kept the twnt wide open cus when closedni was going up to 90+ with or without the dehumidifier running but now that I have the filter exchanging air it’s perfect 56

My problem with the Big Bud was location selection. I had her under too much shade.

Last year I was still learning this property. Placed her where my wife said her brother grew one when she was younger, because the soil is nutrient rich there from housing chickens, hogs and a couple cows over the years.

Soil was great, but neither of us accounted for the shade that has taken over since that time. This year we are removing a bunch of trees to give me more direct light. Only removing water and scrub oaks. I will leave all the live oaks, as I love those trees!

My OG Kush will have a similar problem this year since I misjudged the shade from the cooking pear tree she is under. On top of her TMV infection, I don’t expect much from her.

We learn and adjust…

I have to admit. You seem to have a great place there. Are you kind of out in the country? If they have any thing like that in Florida lol I had a friend that lived in Orlando. I never could figure out how any one could deal with the humidity. Needless to say. I made him come this way to visit. I didn’t realize till last year how much the sun moves over here. it almost looks like it moves a good 15 degrees to the north of where I am early in the year. You have a cool grow going on. I am still following along quietly in the shadows like your plant

Nothing is better than some bud and knowledge! That’s what I love about growing. Every single day I’m constantly learning new things and experiencing different stages of growth. It’s a very very exciting hobby if to say the least. Can’t wait to finally smoke my own bud :innocent::sunglasses:

Yes, I’m right at the northwestern edge of the Ocala National Forest in walking distance to a river that flows into Lake George and from there to the St. John’s River heading north.

Humidity is rough here, but I’ll take it over snow anyday! We have plenty of springs nearby to keep cool. May be taking a trip to Rock Springs tomorrow, just north of the Orlando area. Kelly Park in Apopka, FL.

I try to avoid larger cities. My rural attitude often conflicts with urban ideals, but all the rushing to nowhere kills my buzz too quickly to enjoy being in such large masses. We tend to slow down and relish the peace and quiet out here.

@FNG101v2, The challenge is what sucked me in. i LOVE growing.
@rumpelstiltskin, We are normally dry here. We are headed towards summer so that should be interesting. High heat and low humidity  What de humidifier do you have? I want to get a good one that will actually do some thing  Also, I will have the pictures for you today on how I did the cables on my lights to get about 6" more height
@FloridaSon, Sounds like you are n a great place there. I hear you for the bigger citys. I like the smaller my slef. I like Texas because every where was slow paced compared to Ca. Out side of the city’s was best there. People were in absolutely no hurry to do any thing. I felt out of place, but liked that.

And now for the plants. I finally got the separated last night. Big bud got the 4x4 tnt and the AK got the 3x3.
.The B.B. is now 35" tall and 44" wide. The AK is 36" tall and 36" wide. Both are getting to be tent fillers.
I checked on the plants that are drying. I think it is going well. Humidity is averaging between 50 & 58. The buds are drying at a nice pace. I can see them shrinking a touch  I think they will take the full 7 to 10 days to dry.
And now a few pictures of the B.B. who is starting week 11 today and the AK which is almost on week 10

Here is the big bud starting week 11 in the 4x4 tent

And here is the AK47 at week 9 1/2 in the 3x3 tent
