Blueberry X Big Bud. I am hoping the yellowing means it is finishing. The site I got the seeds from say 10-12 weeks seed to harvest. And 10 weeks is Sunday. Otherwise, I am guessing maybe this strain didn’t like the hotter corner of the greenhouse. I think the buds look fine though, and am not too worried about it.
Yep I agree I you missed the fim on the California Dream. Plants look awesome tent kicking butt.My Granddaddy Purple had lots of color on the bottom side of the leafs and also the sugar leafs was mostly purple. I tried to load a picture but I don’t know what the deal is can’t get it to load.
There is only a blush of color in the buds. I am hoping for cooler nights to add color, right now lows are around 60. It was 62 deg in there this morning.
Thank you!
That should definitely be cool enough to get you some color.
All your plants look amazing.
Okay, seeing some purple in here now. We got covid around the time we got the second vaccine in April and my sense of smell is still very limited, so if they smell grapey I am not detecting it. But they musts be smelling good as I am picking up a definite funk in the greenhouse. Actually reminds me of Willie’s Granola Funk.
Grapey smell would be a good comparison. At least mine did.
I am stuffy from all the careless weeds blooming but I am getting a sweet smell out of GDP; tent, house, and greenhouse all smell DANK. Spent ALL day long cleaning all 12 valves and the hydro line. The downside of hydro organic is that is a gunky mess. But I could not have been happier out there.
The Purple Haze was leaning so I shored it up today. Looks much better! It is smelling amazing. Overall, I am super happy with the progress of things. Hope I might have a GDP or Blue Amnesia ready in a week or two. Rolling up desperation joints: pretty much sugar leaf shake of barely left Critical Mass, no sticky at all, and adding some low grade bronze colored kief, and PAX ABV. I am bound and determined to not go to Colorado. Will have to just go back to the oil vape pen. Ugh.
They look great! Was wondering about your GDP.
@KikiGee gotta ask - do you get notably better buds out of the King Kola and Honey Chome nutes?
I feel like an ass for not getting online. My only excuse is that the greenhouse grow has just kicked my ass all summer.
Purple Haze got gloriously forgot about other than rainwater and Emerald Harvest nutes. Didn’t SCROG in time, so these plants are living up the the Roswell Aliens monniker my son has given them.
To answer your question: definitely YES on the tent grow. This bud I am holding is my test bud, few days from being ready yet, and a LOWER bud! All the buds on these plants are massive. Not what I expected from a 70/30 sativa leaner. I have had to put yoyos and twine to hold them all up. I am super super pleased.
Oh the greenhouse grow! I need to write an entire novel on what I did wrong, cardinal sin of bringing in a thyme plant has had me fighting mites all summer with Lost Coast Plant Therapy. Foxtailed autos like crazy. They look ratty and not near sparkly as a tent grow, but man, what I have harvested is amazing smokes! Blue Amnesia has been the home run winner of all the strains thus far. Very uplifting, nice body buzz, and one joint, hit every now and then, will last for hours. Great wake and bake.
I fed Emerald Harvest all the way around. I battled pH drift, the mites, and heat. California Dream will finish mid October, late as an errant street light, we didn’t see from house, which was way far over, was shining in greenhouse. Once we put up tarp curtains, she got busy. But that is precariously close to our first big freeze drop. Fingers crossed.
The recreational production part is in planning. As far as we can tell, I qualify. Instead of apply right away, we are working on security details, fencing, etc. and will apply in January. Looking at greenhouse strains of autos and planning at least two years in advance around weather, etc, to avoid heat, and work towards a good, premium photo strain. We want to stay small and boutique with what we offer. So going about this slowly and methodically as best we can. Tangerine Dream keeps rising to the surface as one I feel will do well in whatever conditions you throw at it.
Here is shot of lower bud and also just some side buds to give you an idea of how nice they are.
Incredible planning. For what it’s worth, I saw this morning that the CCD offers the ability to obtain a “provisional” license if you can’t meet all the marks - particularly state or local jurisdiction compliance with certain things (zoning comes to mind but only because that’s where my brain is at right now). You may not need to hold back if you have a viable growing area for the 200 or fewer plants and the ability to set up a wifi-based camera system. It’s also a 90 day review process, so you’ll be operational before recreational sale goes live either way.
I’m so unnecessarily stoked we’re getting recreational. I’d love to be planning production but I’ve got to actually grow anything a few times first.
Man, those are some gorgeous buds
Thank you! These are super exciting times for us. This is a dream come true and I want to do this correctly. This weekend we will be printing up the entire rules and regs, copy for each of us, with highlighter and red pen to mark up areas of concern and what we need to work on. I am bound and determined to do this as sanely as possible and not go into big debt. Instead of growing the whole 200 plants first grow may only be 48, if we use the hydro unit in the greenhouse, or more if we don’t. Right now I am not so much in love with the hydro unit due to if something goes wrong it effects them all.
I just got to say though, I am beyond thrilled with the Purple Haze photos in the tent. I think these are, by far, the BEST buds I have ever grown. Now to harvest them in the sweet spot.
As far as you growing production, this is only my fifth crop, I think. I started growing in April or May of 2020, put in a tent grow with photos Grape Ape bagseed and ILGM Wedding Cake. Then did an auto grow of Blueberry X Big Bud and Lemon Haze, followed by a photo grow of Critical Mass. all tent.
Then this greenhouse grow had 8 autos on hydro: Blue Amnesia, Granddaddy Purple, Afghan, and Blueberry X Big Bud (which of ALL strains suffered greatly in the heat and greenhouse and I would not grow it again there). Then the big California dream photo and an Afghan and Blue Amnesia in soil pots, too. Then Purple Haze in tent I am counting as a separate grow from greenhouse, so two grows simultaneously.
I got to say, I am very leery about hydro growing again. The plants in soil pots just ended up looking way better and hardier. But again, pH drift was a big issue as I was using a granule instead of liquid pH down, and finally realized it was the issue, but def got some pH leaf burn from it.
It has been hands on growing since I started, so all that to say, if you can grow once, you can grow production. I have learned so much with every single mistake and every single one is easily avoided or managed. I need merit badges in: botrytis, fungus gnats, hermies, mites, male plants, WPM, autos refusing to finish and languishing, poor harvest timing, heat stress, street lights…just the entire gamut of what could go wrong, I have come across in this time period. And every single issue was a fantastic lesson and never deterred me. I have a tendency to stress a plant and see if I can make it bend to my growing style and environment and it has been a great science experiment.
Out of 19 plants, I have 6 more to bring in. 5 will be done within next 10 days or less and Cali Dream will be finished mid October. I will get a much needed break. I am planning on grow harvests, etc., to also give us vacation time. Figured if I am treating this like a business I need to look that far ahead to give us break periods as this is so much more labor intensive when you raise your plant numbers and have three different styles of growing going on.
And yep, those autos look like they have been to hell and back.
I’m with you there. I’ve unlocked the following achievements myself:
- Wind burn
- Accidental supercropping (not once but three times now on the same plant)
- Severe nutrient burn
- Stunted auto
- Root rot
- Emergency transplant
- Spider mites
- Thrips
- Powdery mildew
I’m just getting started, I can tell.
48 is a great number. Well, anything under 100 is perfect, it’s the smallest tier for production and can be managed in 1,000 square feet or less (assuming you aim for 1 square meter per plant, which is where you hit that “optimal growth” yield the seed sites all seem to market by) - $500 for the annual license, you can step it up if you want to, and no per-plant fee since it’s considered micro. I’ve been doing entirely too much work related reading regarding the cannabis laws, so if y’all have questions feel free to shoot them my way. I can (maybe) provide clarity. We’re all “building the car as we drive it” so to speak.
I am loving the challenge of the hydro growing. My plants communicate with me much quicker than the soil plant I have - I feel more in control. I might change tunes after I see the respective yields. I have a Lemon Tree in soil I’m about to flip to flower (tonight, in fact) and a Lemon Tree from the same set of seeds (off the same plant, that is, not from a bank) vegging in Hydro who will get flipped in about 6 more weeks I think. It won’t be an identical genetics comparison, but I think it’ll give me a good idea.
They look great for undead plants. Lol.
Any and all help is appreciated! I am in New Mexico. Are you looking at our laws? They finally put out the finalized version and we are going to pour over it. We are also looking at other options outside of a grow. A harvest team and mobile testing. But I truly prefer we just work for ourselves and stay at this level. The less people you deal with the less BS you wade through. We have a very clear vision of what we want to do. Initally we were going to go ahead and build the big metal shop for a grow room. But now I want to do this for a while in greenhouse and hoop house, and heck take the grow room inside that houses a 5x5 tent and has a ton more space, and make that a grow room. Staying small will the only way I can wrap my arms around this initially and be able to provide quality buds.
Those auto buds look horrible. Light, fluffy, too desert dried, and no sparkle. I would be ashamed to give these to a bum, much less try and peddle them to a dispensary. But in spite of all of that, this is some of the best weed I have ever smoked. There is zero smell or flavor that I can detect. Still in the cure. I roll joints and that is pretty much only method unless I do a one hitter. Right off I feel like a weight is lifted off my chest and I can breath. Then I notice I feel really, really lighthearted and happy. At total peace. I won’t hit it anymore for a few hours. A couple of hours in my body will buzz and I still feel great. I will hit it a few more times through out the day. That one joint lasting me all day long. And the effects linger with no feeling or notice of coming back down. If I blaze through a whole joint it is almost pscychedelic and it will definitely cause amnesia. I went from 7-10 joints a day on Critical Mass to this one joint and maybe a half one in late evening and then a half of an indica like GDP.
I give you ratty old Blue Amnesia, who took a licking and kept on ticking. I kept a lot of leaves on it for a couple of reasons, one to slow down the drying, which didn’t help, that is a huge puzzle i have GOT to figure out, and two, I thought it wouldn’t be good for much else than edibles or salves so kept trim on it.
(Your list is much like mine! Lol)
Hey, sorry I missed this question. The GDP has been the biggest struggle this grow. First I could only get 3 seeds out of 20 to germinate (cousin germinated one, so 4 out of 20). Then each plant was wildly different from the other. They didn’t fare well in the greenhouse this summer. It is simply too hot for a GDP. At the time I ordered the seeds I didn’t know I was going to grow them in a greenhouse and have since learned most autos do not perform well in a greenhouse. I germinated three seeds and got three to the end. They are in the cure process and I have smoked some green at night, and they do have a nice effect. None of my autos from that group have much of a scent though. Now, of the 4 seeds, one of those is in Wisconsin with a family member and it is absolutely loving life there and she is growing it outside on her deck. And it is an impressive height, too. I think pH drift is what really dinked mine early on. I should have realized the culprit way earlier than I did. I was thinking heat was the issue and the organic nutes. It didn’t occur to me it was that granule.
Oh, wind burn? First two years in a row I tried to grow, it was clones, outside. And two years in a row 70 mph spring winds stripped the clones nude. Third year was when I went inside. And used seeds.
Yep. I’m from ABQ but have been elbow deep in getting ahead with what all the counties are planning to do. So far the best approach is to be literally anywhere with municipal water - the water rights hurdle is going to hurt anyone on well water or acequias.
We are on a water well, in the city. We could hook up to city water but won’t. Sadly, that will be a hurdle for us?
I appreciate your involvement in this. I am in Curry.
Is it rated for domestic or commercial? If residential, that may be an issue. I’d phone up the Office of the State Engineer and see what they say - I have seen the state in general be much less restrictive with their requirements on micro businesses. It looks like it would take a $75 application fee to submit to have domestic switched to commercial, but I also know OSE was already backlogged before the cannabis act happened. It’s worth the phone call to see if you’d even need to do anything or if the existing well supplies enough for what you think you’d need to grow the plants you intend to grow.
