Griff’s First Outdoor Grow Journal

Plant looks fine. Either a couple of water droplets or some mechanical damage, very minor.

You think so? That’s good to hear…all 4 of my plants have a few spots so I guess I’ll keep an eye on it. We did have a little rain one day so hopefully you’re right and it’s just some droplets leaving their mark.

Thanks :+1:

@Shaky985813 welcome to the ILGM forum :evergreen_tree:

Hard to see a lot of detail with the dark pics, but is your issue that you have one plant smaller than the other?

Actually i see water on a few leaves… do u always spritz ur ladies? Those droplets can be magnified by ur light and cause damage

I never get the leaves wet on purpose, just got a little on there from reaching around with the water. I noticed the spots and took the picture first but I did do my best to shake off the water you can see on there after.

No big. Was just thinking the spots could be water refraction damage. Nothing to fret about

Update time!

Plants are very happy! Topped ones have two obvious main arms growing now, and I think the one I FIMmed has 3? Hard to tell but they’re definitely doing stuff!

I bought some nutes today too from the local grow shop so I’m excited to start on those (low dose at the start of course). Got small grow bottles and large bloom bottles because the soil I have should run out of nutes by flower time so I’m just topping it off as we go along.

Pics below. Keep in mind the two LSD plants are a couple weeks behind the wedding cakes.

This one is the FIMmed wedding cake - not sure how clear it is what’s happening in there.

All in all very happy plants. I’m loving this! :v:

So I haven’t been measuring water at all until this morning. Looking for some insight into these numbers…

10 mL of gro a/b into 7L water gave:
7.25 pH/700 EC/325 ppm

I added 2 tsp of vinegar per my vinegar investigation (2nd post in this journal), then measured:
6.1 pH/670 EC/329 ppm

I bought the vivosun ph/tds pens so there’s likely a margin of error but that’s a better pH. I collected some runoff for the first time and it read:

6.1 pH/1446 EC/700 ppm.

So obviously much higher EC in the runoff, but does that just mean the soil is still pretty hot? Not sure where that falls in the overall spectrum of EC readings. Also, should the ppm have gone up more in the runoff? That nute dose was on the low end of the recommended but I’m thinking if the runoff stays high I can probably keep the dose low…does that make sense? Any other comments on these numbers?

Thats the jist. U go in under a controlled low number and get high runoff? Keep it low. They will trend downwards as time goes. Also what is your medium? Soil should be a few points higher. Around 6.5. Coco and peat, and ur spot on at 6.1

Beauty. I’m in soil so I’ll use a little less vinegar next time. The vinegar water increased ph over time when I tested it so I’ll aim for the low end of soil pH and I think it should adjust up over time as well…?

Either way good to know I’m on the right path…thanks :+1:

@kaptain3d I was perusing @AAA’s journal and saw your profile pic…my pup looks pretty similar!

Yours might be smaller but they have the same scruffy look  What is yours? Mines a rescue but we’re pretty sure he’s a Catalan sheepdog x schnauzer.

Wedding cake plants in the background of course!

Mine is a Morkie, a cross of a Maltese and a Yorkie. My wife wanted to get a small dog she would be able to handle. We called him Velcro, and I nicknamed him : The Keeper of the Kushes! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Haha keeper of the kushes! So good. Gotta come up with a name for our little buddy. Bud buddy? Lol.

Had more than a couple today with pops while golfing haha, and the pup is much wiser than me, so that’s fitting!

Things are progressing that’s for sure, still have 4 happy ladies! I think I’ve been holding off on nutes too much because I scared myself with some ph variation burn and attributed some of it to nutes. So no more ph adjusting, too much work and if they don’t like tap water, too bad! They started just fine with it so I’m not too worried. It’s also been insanely hot so I’ve had to start watering more often. Going to slowly bump up the nutes and water over the next week. Here’s what I got right now.

From left to right: FIMmed wedding cake, topped WC, natural LSD, topped LSD.

I have one question about my nutes though. I was looking at the NPK numbers on the bloom bottles closer and noticed the phosphorous values are pretty low compared to what I’ve seen.

Am I missing something about those numbers maybe? Or does it seem like even the bloom nutes have high nitrogen and low phosphorous? I did buy monster bloom which will keep me safe but I’m just curious why the straight up gro a/b is radio’d the way it is.

Thanks :v:

Your girls are looking great ! Your doing a good job with them . I went very light with nutes and actually only used in the flower stage , I probably got less yield at the end but at the time I just was more comfortable keeping things simple and learning as I went . I’ll try doing more next time .
Looks like yours are filling out nicely, keep em happy bro! High Times @Griff :v:
