Ok I’m still getting a green taste to my Maui wowie is that because I have only cured it for 3 weeks or did I do something wrong
I got this from online, think it is pretty accurate.
(( After 2 to 3 weeks in containers, your cannabis will be cured enough to provide a quality experience, but 4 to 8 weeks of cure time will improve it even more. Some strains benefit from 6 months or more of curing.))
The green taste is the chlorophyll still breaking down. How long were the plants hanging before you jarred them?
Take a small popcorn sized nug and nuke in the microwave for 1 minute on high. That will give a better idea how it’s curing.
5 days I Jared them then and they were to dry like 45 RH so I put a couple leaves from another plant in to get the RH up to 65
That’s the issue. The 5 days isn’t long enough for the chlorophyll to break down. Which will leave you with that grass/hay smell. I have always been a crappy dryer because my plants dry so fast. Well, recently my grandma passed away and I left the house for a week with plants hanging. So they hung for 2 weeks(unintentionally). Heres the kicker, whenever I got home they all smelled ridiculously amazing. The hay smell was gone and it smelled like top notch cannabis.
In the future if you can turn the air exchange down and try to hang them for 2 weeks you can really see a difference. You will have to keep the humidity up in the 60s but damn…I know what I was doing wrong before.
I’ll give that a try next time I just have trouble with the humidity in my whole house
Ew, no. You’re gonna have people nuking their buds thinking that’s how to get a good taste test. You know that doesn’t work for taste; if anything, nuking dry weed on high for a minute is going to burn off terps.
Now, if they’re desperate to get high and don’t care about flavor, a flash dried nuked bud will do the job.
As I don’t have full taste buds, all strains taste the same to me. And yes, it does work and you will get high. Believe it or not this was posted on here about nuking a small popcorn nug.
I forgot to add…I do this one fresh popcorn sized nugs off the bottom. They haven’t even dried this nuking it for 1 minute.
Im sorry to hear you cant taste stuff… thats crappy. I was smoking some very nice sweet weed the last time I went snowmobiling, forgot toask what strain it was. Definitely an indica dominant though. I have 3 strains i my room now, 1 strain… Balkhi is just seedlings, so they have no stink yet. The other 2 are worlds apart in the stink factor. The Jawa Kush is super dank locker room funk! The Johaar is sweet lemon and strong mango! Now thats on the hoof odor. After the cure it may be very different? I do very much lije the Johaar smell though.
@Cannabian I can’t wait to see how the Johaar tastes since I have 37 seeds of it.
You will have to wait until next xmas! I only flower under the sun. Not enough room in the house to flower big wood! I figure this will come off in early November, kaybe mid November? Hang for a couple weeks and cure for 2 months? Itll be ready for a test toke by Christmas though lol.
@MrPeat Don’t feel bad about your taste buds bro. Most of the weed tastes the same with a subtle hint here and there. All these flavors are highly exaggerated for bag appeal.
@Cannabian There’s big wood in my house every day
I was hoping quitting cigars would help bring back some of my taste buds. Nope it didn’t. That is ok…long as I get what I need from marijuana, I’m fine with it all tasting the same.
