Grand Daddy Purple Buds today 8-25

I am assuming those are not auto-flower from the looks of them, am I right?

Nice looking plants but do not resemble the auto-flowers I grew.

Just the regular GDP seeds. I’ll snap a few photos tomorrow. It’s raining now and they’re all hiding under the gazebo to stay dry and to remain bud rot free.

Yeah, I see humidity should be between 50/60 and temps 60/70. Those are ideal for drying. Possibly the growing is the easiest part of producing a kick ass bud. Drying and curing require some diligence and craftsmanship. I have to tell you I’m not looking forward to trimming all that bud, and it looks like I’m gonna have a pile of it.

It stopped raining so I dragged them out and snapped a few shots.

Well I finally took a personal day to hang out with my brother who just sold his house in the Midwest and moved back east to be closer to FOO (family of origin)
He had a list and did the list
Closing on new house on October 26. He arrived in MA August 29th pretty typical for him; focused and disciplined……
Anyway, I got home and eventually went out to check my girls since it’s been very wet and overcast.
They don’t NEED anything really but as @Hellraiser would always suggest spend some time every day just looking them over.

Pictures kinda shabby (taken by iphone with my loupe over the camera lens) but it looks like mold or bud rot has found a home….
I got out a couple high output fans and set them to work on those 6 GDP that are just over 6 weeks in flower. One thing jumped out at me this evening was the few large sun leaves I didn’t take off were pretty consistently yellowed since a day or two ago. They were all watered with FF Tiger bloom 1/2 dosage and 1 TBLSP bootstrap Molasses/gallon two days ago so they’re not lacking food. Put this mold together with those yellowing sun leaves and I’m thinking I may not get another week out of those 6 due to their maturity and bud density.

I’m relying on their smell and their overall health to tell me when it’s time to chop. I did load some 35 mm film in my camera and will hopefully get some really clear close ups of the trichomes tomorrow or Monday to help as well. Hoping this is just a rogue element….lol

I had a couple spots like that on a bud or two and pulled those buds off. Keeping and eye on those spots and thus far no spreading. Check them daily but as long as you don’t see more of these spots keep growing toward maturity. My trichomes have gotten about 30% cloudy so I’m close. You should be getting there too.

It’s difficult to tell if leaves are rotting or turning purple.

Thanks for the update at your end. My first grow indoors (and first since the 80’s) was finishing in February or March of 2020 got nice color due to
Maturity
Colder night temps
I think if we just get enough sun overall until end of September and we get some cooler weather (typically N NƉ winds prevalent over SSE) then you’ll really get the purple.
I notice the girls that are getting more sun up top are still showing creamy fresh pistils while those that get some am shade are almost looking plateaued or finished….:rage:
I’ve got a major move on my hands if I really wanna keep these 6 GDP going. I am gonna defoliate from the bottom of buds especially between bud sites as that is where I’m getting the mold/rot. Also removing any stubs from prior defoliation to minimize mold. After doing what amounts to a wet trim today I’m gonna try to selectively remove any small buds between the biggest top colas. I’m seeing the rot on sugar leaves at the very base of each bud in any overcrowded neighborhood lol
I hope you’re right and stay dry my friendā˜€ļø

The real babysitting begins!

I cure my buds in glass mason ( canning ) jars with lids. I watch for any signs of moisture in the jars.
I open the lids once a week for a few minutes to stir them around and let any moisture out.
I have had great success with this method through 2 harvests

Chopped all of my GDP
In dry room for 6 days now
Internal humidity at 13%
Almost there for the grove bags
I’m slightly jealous (my location on the river not good for sticky buds and rain)
Will be jarring up and burping any troublemakers but really pumped to do one step more into grove bags and probably sealed once they look stable.
See ā€œwho’s using grove bagsā€ here great info there
