It’s finally nice enough to put my lil lady outside. Meet Betty White, my Golden Girl (ILGM Gold Leaf). She’s been going for just about 2-3 weeks and I just got her into her forever home outside.
I’m using my last grows soil with General Hydroponic liquid nutes in a 15gal fabric pot. I’ve got a beautiful spot on my deck for her to get the best south facing sun and I can pull her under the covered portion when needed.
This is my first time growing a photoperiod and first time outdoors so I’ll likely have a few questions later about pest control and mold… But it feels great to be back on the forum after a bit of a hiatus.

Gold Leaf is a great plant.

Looks good! ILGM Gold Leaf has become one of my favorites. I had to allow it to cure for about 6 months for it to really hit the sweet spot. I’m still smoking a harvest from July last year and its great. Kind of reminds me of what we used to call “creeper bud” back in the old days. Good luck!!!

My Gold Leafs did great outside. I also grow on my deck. Nice daytime smoke!
I am not sure what part of the world you are in…it is early to put plants outside where I am in northeast Ohio. They will start to flower because the days are still too short (nights are too long). I have put plants out in May, but provided them with about 1/2 hour of light in the middle of the night to interrupt the dark cycle and stop them from flowering.
Good luck with your grow

Thanks! I’m in western NY and I’ve had them started on a 15 hour indoor light and I do have a dinky little led on it out there at night, but I live out in the country with almost no light pollution. But if I see signs of flower I’ll definitely put a stronger light on her for a bit at night
Looks like she took the transplant well.

You should be good if you have the light. The last time I did it I only had 1 60-watt incandescent light to cover 8 plants…had it come on at 1:00 am for 1/2 hr. Everything stayed vegetative.

She has taken well to the new environment and I have started some training for improved yields. (I’m hoping to have a nice branchy tree, big, bushy and beautiful!)
This is my first time working with a topped plant and I am thinking about doing another but will look towards you guys for an experienced comment. She should be able to support another topping as I do provide extra calmag to support the extra weight. I also lightly pinch and rub the cola stems to thicken them up in prep for the extra weight.

With the photo you have a lot more time to train and to recover from any toppings. Maybe let her recover a few days from the first one. They’re pretty tough. Looks good!

Thanks, it’s raining for the next few days so I’ll probably top it once the sun comes around. But it’s been about a week since the first top.

Here’s an update:
I did the last top I’m going to do for a while and I got a 2nd plant out now. I topped the 2nd one once and I’m going to see how tall it gets, the main one I’m doing all I can to bush her out more.

Update time:
Nothing much to say, they are growing quite well.

Just savored some Goldleaf.

I just want to point out the difference between a single topping and going wild with topping… On one hand we have a leggy tree and on the other we have a fat bush…

Well I think that’s all the training I’m doing for the big one, now it’s all down to pruning.
A few questions that I may have asked already, do you guys leave your plants out in the rain if they could use the water? (Obviously if they don’t need water bring them under cover.) Also I’m noticing a lot of damage on the leaves which is likely ok so long as I don’t prune heavily but any recommendations for pest control becides neem oil? We also had some 40mph winds yesterday which they took fairly well though that could also be some of the leaf damage as well

I use Captain Jack’s Deadbug for pests until buds start to form, then I use Pure Crop1 and/or Dr. Zymes. I will add in BT if there are caterpillars around.
I only pull my plants under cover if they have been wet for too long…not every time it rains when they do not need water. I tend to put them under cover for all the rain once the buds start to fatten up to try to avoid bud rot.

I’ve gotten into the habit of posting every 4ish days so here’s my new update.
We are getting vertical with it now!
And just for you guys, a lil peek at what I’ve got growing inside, some yuzu euphoria autos…
