Gold Leaf DWC Hydroponic

Week 9 photos. Really stressed out my Gold Leaf’s with a double whammy. First, the brown sugar was a bad idea. Caused proliferation of slime bacteria in the DWC. Runt was hit the worst. She had shedding root sections and really slimed bucket walls and roots. Given Big Sister was better established with a very large root structure she was more resistant, but she still got it. Second whammy is that I accidentally turned down my air pimp to minimum so there was definitely an O2 deficiency at the root base. Decided to start the grow winding down and gave both of them a microbe flush. Added 1 tsp of Plant Success Organic Granuales to the water flush.

The room rearranged.

Runt: here leaves have turned dark purple and are curling.

Big Sister: She’s finally showing some yellowing of the leaves.

You should never put anything organic in a dwc or a rdwc at any point… not a good idea…
Hope they bounce back for you…

Most of the bud swell additives are either sugar or molasses so just figured I’d give it a try. I bet if I had the my microbe mix last week I would have had better results because the good microbes would have probably fought out the bad. Always learning…

Hopefully no bad effects.

I use turpinator , crystal burst , snowstorm ultra , gravity 13 , hydroguard and orca , plus the gh 3 part , cal mag and diamond nectar at various times and levels during flower…
No sugars and nothing organic… even the gravity 13 that I use is questionable because it has a few organics in it , but I only use it twice towards the middle , end of flowering…
Oh ya… and armor si also…

I just try to keep it simple. Lucas GH and ArmorSl. Growth is awesome, but just not getting the buds to develop. Maybe should have gone with GH Nectar or something else. Following @MAXHeadRoom,

Should have done more research. No sugars in Overdrive.

AN Overdrive: Derived from: Magnesium Phosphate, Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Phosphate, Magnesium Sulfate, Fulvic Acid, Folic Acid, Assorbic Acid.

The AN products Perfect PH brand did not work well when I tried it in aeroponics. I think we try to put to many nutes in our weed.

@maxheadroom Was it that it didn’t grow and yield like your current method in soilless? Or was it just overdrive that didn’t work in aeroponics? That’s my dilemma. I get explosive growth with both photos and autos, but flowering is substandard. Autos just don’t bloom well and photos, just are happy staying green and lush but don’t throw much energy towards flowering. I am great at growing bushes. Just dont understand what I’m doing wrong. I’ll get a great yield compared to prior now that I have the QB setup but nowhere near the yields I see others are getting with peat/coco/pro mix.

@Donaldj any insights? You are a big proponent of GH nutes and hydro in DWC and RDWC.

Are you giving them bloom nutes during flowering

GH Micro and GH Bloom and ArmorSl is all I have been using in flower. Trying to keep it simple. GH also has 3 other additives suggested but I have not added these to my repertoire. Given I am not in soilless I also do not use the Cal/Mag. I dump and refil with fresh Nutes every 7 days and top off with water during the week when the plants drink.

This is the chart I have followed without FP,FB, LKB

GH Shedule: I don’t want to go crazy following the expert. GH adds less Micro and Bloom. That’s why I though I could get away with just FM, FB in the higher doses and skip the others.

Ya… floralicious plus and florablend are both organic nutrients… I would not suggest them for dwc or rdwc… you might be able to pull it off if your changing out your nutrients and air stones and buckets and air lines every 7 days… but that’s a $hit load of work and materials…
I change out my systems nutrients and water every 3 weeks and that’s it… if you use the right nutrients , there will be no build up or slime in the system , so there won’t be any reason to change out air stones and air lines and pumps…

All my lines go through the lid. 4 buckets takes 10 minutes. Not much work at all. Just swap buckets. Have an extra for the first.

Can teach you a super easy way to grow… young grasshopper… when the time comes , I will get you through all of the disinformation… until that time comes… just wishing you the best…

Have another 2 plants looking for some advice. Autos are frustrating the s…t out of me. Just won’t bloom! Using the same schedule.

I will never grow auto’s , unless I’m outdoors… no sence in growing them indoors… just me tho…
I only grow photos…
Clone plants for 2 to 6 years and up to 8 years… if you have something that works , you stick with it… make room for learning in small experiments… you will be more then surprised…

I agree. Wish I had my backyard in CA back. I grew tomatoes that were 10 ft tall! All the spent grains from brewing beer made great compost!

Here’s my other rig.

Is this what you are suggesting? If so I’m not far off. I don’t use Cl/Mg or diamond nectar but your feeds are much weaker than mine. The orca should be equivalent to the Plant Success granular.

Yes this is a post of mine… and I still use that ratio with a few more additives… but still main 3 part is still the same… I just add a few more ingredients in flower…

@peachfuzz You answered my question without me asking… Ditch the Floralicious plus and Florablend in the GH advanced regiment. I figured those two Vegan blends were the bio-slime culprit in my RDWC… Thanks!!

Ya… no good in dwc or rdwc… I’ve tried both of those products just because gh recommended them and ya it’s a no go for the same reason you just stated…
Every time I check on things , I always swipe my finger around my control bucket to see if theres any build up or slime… it’s a good habit to get into… what I use works like clock work… no slime and no build up and no issues… and my meds are pretty sick when it comes to flavor , taste , weight and yield…

I still think soil grows are more flavorful , but nowhere near the yields…
