@JKDjEdi
I’m using Organic Living Soil made up of “FF Ocean Forest with Natures Living Soil for autos” mixed in.
No nutes Water only (filtered/dechlorinated) at ph6.3-6.8
I’m going to try adding unfiltered blackstrap molasses tomorrow morning. The plants still have a bit of weight.
You don’t need a lot of the molasses, you can use up to a tablespoon per gallon of water. I use a teaspoon. And once a week. That stuff if overused can throw you pH off. You soils pH range should not be confused with inert medias pH range. Inert media like Coco has a lower pH range than organic soil. Here is the “soil” pH range that cannabis grows best at.
Here are better pics. Lower leaves are peeking up. Leaves on tops of colas are shrinking and dropping.
@TroubleMan your girl is ‘clawing’ real hard. You feeding N still?
No I haven’t given any nutes since second week of veg. Bc I’m using living soil. But I let them dry out and watered (dechlorinated PH6.5)with molasses today and she’s bouncing back!
What usually causes the clawing?
@Fieldofdreams
See a lot of them are starting to re-flatten and perk back up.
Actually I might be trippin lol. She only looks 0.05% better now that I compare to the earlier pics
@TroubleMan keep working her through it. She can recover.
Still hard to tell with that purple lighting. It’s either to many nutes or your over watering. I wish you the best of luck man, it’s weed so it’ll take a beating and still keep going…
@MidwestGuy
I see from others Girl Scout Cookies Extreme pics that the leaves eventually change to a lighter green and purplish color.
What week of flower does that start to happen usually?
@MidwestGuy @Fieldofdreams @JKDjEdi @PurpNGold74
This started happening to the leaves after the unsulfered blackstrap molasses.
I ph’d the water before and after adding the molasses. 6.5ph
No nutrients except second week veg.
Pic of the tall plant was to show clawing without purple light.
@TroubleMan you feel the molasses gave you the clawing? How much per gallon did you use? I use that molasses to feed my soil wkly at 1.5 tbsp per gal. I haven’t heard of it causing any toxicity to date. But we can figure this out as a group!!
No other details that could lend a plausible direction other than blackstrap?
You know your in flower right? Do you have a moisture meter to check your soil? Even a cheap one can help. And making an adjustment can take a couple weeks or more to see any results most of the time if not always. Lets cover this moisture here first. If your soil is too wet, your drowning your roots. They need oxygen to breath just like you and me. The moisture meter will help you on when to water again. Letting the soil dry a bit will help. You’ll do more damage over watering than under watering. So don’t trip out about not watering a day or two. Besides your ladies will tell you if they’re really thirsty.
Here’s the other thing. What’s the pH of your soil? Nevermind the water, your soils pH is where the meat and potatoes are behind a healthy plant as far as living soil is concerned. Do you have a meter to measure your soils pH? If not, get one ASAP, especially if you plan on doing this for awhile. Understanding your soil is key to a healthy grow. Once you get that dialed in you won’t need the soil pH meter as much, but to understand what’s going on initially, get that meter. You need to know what your soils pH is and then make the necessary adjustments for your soil. doing the pH adjustments by water will not work, not for the long-term.
@JKDjEdi
I obviously know I’m in flower. It’s not my first grow. Just my first with something other than shitty bag seed. And first with autos. That being said, should one not use molasses in flower?
Yes I have a soil meter. The meter says the PH is high 7s closer to alkaline. I only water when it reads dry and the plants are light weight.
When I watered with molasses I let the plants dry out for 5 days before using it mainly bc of they were clawing and I figured the molasses would help the living soil. I noticed the yellowing basically the same day I watered.
I’m waiting on my PPM meter to come in to test runoff.
I’m going to dry them out until Mon/Tues and water until runoff with water only at ph6.3 unless you recommend something else.
Mind you these are my first two seeds as a test run. Just wanting to get it right and learn from mistakes before growing the rest.
@JKDjEdi
Thanks btw
No the clawing was before the molasses. Sorry for confusion.
The yellowing started after molasses
I did the same. 1.5tsp per gallon
Me neither.
Its possible the mole ass wonked your pH. Have u been inoculating with microbials? Thats the only reason id even use molasses.
Looking back, i see the claw mentioned. Overabundance of nitrogen can and will lead to lockouts of other nutrients.
Its also possible she’s just a hungry plant and would like more bloom boost.
I follow you, I’m in the same boat as you then. Know more about photoperiods than Autos. I finally decided to treat the autos like photoperiods to sleep at night! . The only difference is my light cycle for my Autos is 20 hours on and 4 hours off with a DLI of about 38-40.
Been through that clawing myself with the some photos and for me it was just overwatering. I’m not sure about your practice of flushing your pots though. Maybe you know something I don’t but in general, with living soil, flushing is a big no no.
How Alkaline is your soil? You might need to drop that down a bit. I’m brain dead right now about which amendment helps with that.
And I’m a huge believer of the use of unsulfured blackstrap molasses. It feeds the microbes in your soil. The same way it feeds the microbes when you mix up a batch of compost tea.
So if your watering practice is good, and it seems like it is the way you described it, shit not really sure what else it could be, I’ve read that it could be that your soil is too rich. But my leaves are turning yellow! I get that, check out that pH soil chart I posted earlier, what nutrients get locked out above 7?
