Having had a couple of semi-successful runs with 2 5-gallons, it was my time to do the variety run and now I’m learning those lessons. The plan was to do 3 gallons and that would stunt them enough to squeeze in an extra. I obviously missed something about how to effectively stunt growth, these are the biggest plants I’ve ever grown. I’ve topped, super cropped, and pruned. I have been reluctant to take many fan leaves, I’m a believer in the Bergman’s Lab treatise on the function of fan leaves. But maybe it wasn’t written for those that stuff their tent.
With regard to environment, I don’t have a lot of control over humidity. Fall/winter is our driest and most temperature friendly time of the year for growing but we are still subject to a random week of cold and high humidity. I have 2 circulation fans and an exhaust fan running continuously but mold has been an issue with top colas in prior grows.
Below are my 3 autos at week 1 of flower. Pruning and good, open structure on 2 of them has kept the “body” in good shape but the canopy has me worried about losing the whole tent to mold. I plan on some heavy pruning at the end of week 3 to remove underdeveloped flowers but beyond that I don’t know. Would love to hear suggestions/experiences on how to make this work out.
