Germination to Seedling

Good morning

Yes, if your nutes call for 1/2 tsp per gallon. Since you are unfamiliar with them I would recommend starting with a dose between 1/8th to 1/4 tsp per gallon and see how the baby responds. It is better to be safe than sorry with nute strength in my experience. You can always add more.

There are a lot of different interpretations for when “seedling” stage ends. For me it’s kind of grey and largely unimportant because I start in soil and don’t have to feed for 3-4 weeks. So call them whatever you want they keep on growing just the same.

For me, if I had to classify them I’d say the red here are early veg. The yellow is a seedling. The blue is grey area take your pick. (Late seedling or super early veg)

Well you seen what is going on with mine. I got up this morning and took the humidity lid off and got the blue light about 2 inches above them. The one in cup that doesn’t show anything should I give that fertilizer or hold off on that one.

I would hold off on that one assuming the coco is moist already. If it’s dry you need to get some water in there. With a light nute dose or not.

Two inches sounds really close. Watch for burn or discoloration.

I took that seed that isn’t showing I put it in a propgater and leave it alone and hope it will snap out and grow right. The one that is up is under light without no dome on it. The light is a cfl with watt at 20 and blue to if you give me a better suggestions I will do it. Just want to do it right.

That all sounds okay to me except I’m still uncertain if the one that isn’t showing is still encapsulated in the seed shell or not. If the shell is off I think you should get the leaf part above ground. Leave the root buried.

Ok my friend I took the no show and uncovered the leafs, and covered the white root. Here it is. I put it back in my container and now I wait for a miracle on both of them.

Okay perfect! I had a feeling that’s what the situation was. You definitely had to get those leaves exposed ASAP. That’s what I was trying to get at last night, sorry for any confusion. If you could manage to uncover just a bit more of her stem, like an inch. That’d probably be optimal.

Are there any drainage holes in those pots?

That is as far as we could go at the moment. So I hope it will pop up more. The white root is covered but it is hard to keep it covered. So for now that is how far we can go with the leaf. I did put it back in humidity cover.

Great. Now you just hang back til the coco dries up a bit…but not fully. This is a balancing act that you have to work out. You don’t want them soaked or dry.

Those leaves were laying under the soil we had to take a toothpick and easy lift them up. Then put the dirt over the white root. So now is wish a miracle

They are pretty hardy. I like your chances.

Any drainage holes in the bottom of the pots? I can’t tell if their plastic or like a ceramic material. if their plastic I’d suggest drilling a bunch of holes in the sides and bottom.

Yes they have drainage.

Also do I keep them on a heat mat is that ok to?

I never have and don’t think it’s necessary. But it would probably help as long as your soil isn’t getting too hot. I don’t even know how hot too hot would be…or what thermometer your sticking in there to check. I would probably just forgo that if your above 70f. Your call obviously though.

Temp stays above 70 most of the time in the grow tent.

That’s the high I’m running in my seedling tent right now. Low at night is in the 60’s. No growth issues for me in that range. I don’t have any experience with heat mats. It could help. But I don’t think you need it.

Ok. So hold that or try without heat mat? This is the first time with the mat and it never got over 78. So anyways they are off the mat and I am watching it now. Also the light is the cfl 20 watt ok or can they go bigger watt? I have a 300 and 600 led with veg and bloom switches.

I would let stretch guide you here. If the seedling stretches up it is searching for more light. You would need to list make and model numbers on the “300” and “600” leds. To see what your working with. I doubt they are 300 and 600 watt lights. A 600 watt light is a BEAST. These are marketing techniques by foreign companies to list them as 300w or 600w when in reality they consume 100 watts or so and some of that is spent on powering fan(s).

You could probably stay with what you are using for a bit or tell me about the 300 and we’ll see how high you could place that above them safely.
