I make my own compost.

Do you do composting worms too?

There are live worms in my bin yes along with coffee grounds and veggie and fruit waste from the kitchen.

I don’t know if they ever make it into the pots tho. I’m assuming they do sometimes.

I do the same thing, all my soil is from the worm bin red wigglers, pull soil out for a run and it goes back in. Works well.

Is there some discoloration happening on this gelato?

Possibly and possibly not? Why’s the soil look so woody? Can you get an accurate soil ph? Like a slurry test using distilled water.

My compost bin is under a cypress tree. Sometimes I pick up whatever when I’m getting soil out of the bottom of the bin. Anyway I don’t have a soil tester. It is next on list of stuff to buy.

Wedding cake in the same soil. She looks good to me so far. I should probably clean to top of that gelato up……:unamused:

Ok. Slurry test soil mixed with the distilled water. Test with my ph pen?

I wouldn’t call it discoloration. If anything a tiny bit on the hungry side, but very healthy looking.

Yes, that’s the ticket

I’m PHing my ro water around 7. Maybe too much?

Don’t ph ro or distilled water.

It’s almost 9 coming out.

It’s not, it’s a false reading and can actually damage ph meters.

Let the water rest in a jar and then test it. What you are seeing is a lack of oxygen and other atmospheric “things”

I was wondering why when I first put the pen in the numbers bounce all over the place. Lol. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Slurry test. 1 part soil to 1 part distilled water yes?
