I Topped My Auto - Now We’re Both Stressed!

After much reading, asking questions and watching videos, I decided to top my outdoor auto do-si-do.

Second guessed myself immediately afterwards. Hope it recovers.

My first plant so it’s all an experiment. Learn by doing.

I’m no pro but it looks healthy to me. How old is it? Just curious

How old? I “think” about 4 or 5 weeks. Had a bit of a rough start but survived in spite of me (others died)

Next time I will write down my dates so I’ll be able to recall them.

She’ll be fine…let her grow @HotAndHumid. Any topping or fimming will always stress the plant. Weed is a tough plant and can take quite a bit of stress and turn out good.

Thank you

I dont think she was healthy enough to be topped.
Especially because she is an auto.

1)She should be much larger and with more branches starting to form, and she hasnt produced a propper leaf set yet.
2) all the autos I have grown begin showing sex at 3 weeks and stretch starts at 4, you may be in for some dissapointnent and I felt I should warn you to the possibility she could start flowering anytime and wouldnt get much bigger.
With autoflowers losing a single day to shock is the equivelent of loosing a week in photoperiod plants. This is why people go outta their way to provide a stress free life for autos. They dont get shocked by LST methods. You can top them and I encpurage people to do so, some of my biggest autos were topped. They have to be super healthy to not suffer from the topping.

Do you have more seeds? You may wanna consider dropping another. Even if your current plant makes it to flower she isnt gonna give you alot, especially if she spreads her legs tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply and honesty. This was my first. It’s a learning experience. If it doesn’t turn out well, I’ll learn from it for next time

Don’t have any more seeds. Would I even have time for another try before shorter fall days?

Most of em take 90 days or so so yeah prolly not. Sorry brother. Heres to hoping Im wrong! Give her lotsa love
She isnt dead yet.

Depending on location yes you have time for an auto. Just. Since they are not light dependent to flower onky worry is getting too cold really. Ruderalis grows in siberia. Biggest problem i see besides winter hitting is maybe a smaller plant. Just my thoughts.

I’m in SC along the coast. We have very little winter.

I’m ok with seeing how this one goes and starting again in spring.

Thanks

Nice. Spent some years in Beaufort. Crabbing/fishing/oystering and shrimping. I miss it.

She looks healthy. And curious about what’s your soil mix?

Hi you done a good job with the topping ,i grow autos myself and i fim my plants its like topping but u dont cut the top off instead u cut the top in half so u end up with half of the leaves at the top when you do this you can end up with six new branches from one fim or u mite get four new branches but also this method doesn’t stress out the plant that much either .But when u top u only get two new branches its just another choice you have instead of topping

@Aussie_autos
Thanks for the reply. I was pretty clear on the topping procedure and that you only get two branches from it.

But, I still don’t understand FIM. You described it but I am not following. Maybe I need to search for some YouTube videos so I can get a visual.

In either case, I’ll live with what I have this year and chalk it up as a learning experience.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yah thats all good bro it was just a suggestion

@Aussie_autos
It’s a coco mix with pearlite. Straight out of the bag.

Made the mistake of germinating in Miracle Grow. When I transplanted I removed as much as possible.

Just one of my learning mistakes. I’ll research soil more before my next attempt in the spring

Thanks

My do-si-do autoflower 5 days after topping.

1st grow and still a learning experience. May not produce much but seems somewhat health at the moment.

I realize it stresses autos to top (learned after doing it). Still was hoping for faster growth
