Foxtails at week 6?

So i got a 5 pack of trainwreck photos from another seed co. They ended up being photots and autos. Possibly different strains. One photo is burned to shit no matter what i do and buds are like halfway looking. The other photo has been mostly healthy however i have a good amount of amber trichromes and some buds looklike they are foxtailing?

Lower you lightning intensity or raise the light to help with the Fox tails. I usually set my lighting in this stage of flower to 45-50 DLI. Bigger issue may be the crispy burnt leaves. Do you have run off PH and PPM numbers? :love_you_gesture:

How do you know when to harvest? The new growth will have the white pistols while the original part of the bud has amber.

Do you ignore the new white pistols and look only at the trichs? Looking for cloudy trichs and some amber?

I dont i honestly gave up on that burned plant. I think its just bad genetics. The pack of seeds has been ridiculous. Every other plant has turned out great except from that pack. Just harvested 10 oz off a white widow auto and dgp auto. And another 3.5 off the train wreck auto from the pack. I could have broken a window with the colas. Ppm was fine, ph slurry was a bit low but i corrected it. Calmag and sulfur upped. I eventually just started flushing it and will harvest if the buds start burning up.

I’ve had foxtails related to 2 different reasons. 1st one was over dosing PK and ruined the plant and the 2nd and easy one is lighting intensity. On the latter I just snip them off, I’ve smoked my share of fox tails…no biggie just makes an ugly bud but a great indicator that you need to back off the light :love_you_gesture:

Thanks. My light was definitely too intense. I backed it down to around 40 dli

I’m just not sure on harvest. Do I just go by the trichs and ignore the new pistols on the new growth?

I use my jewelers loop and “I think” im pretty close looking at the trichs but the new pistols are far from amber

Does this make sense?

Correct. Trichs on the new calyxes will not mature in time for harvest. I get them every grow and just cut them off at harvest. No big deal.

Yes, go by the trichomes. Those fox tails will never ripen :love_you_gesture:

Mind sharing who that was? I’d like to add it to my “avoid” list.

I breed my own, and pick up hype strains every now and then to work into crosses. Certainly have no desire to enter into crapshoot genetics.

Pacific seed co. When i told them there were autos in the pack they refused to replace them because “no one can define what makes cannabis flower”.

Ahhh. Hate to say it they’re already on the “avoid” list thanks to @Nicky having a properly terrible time with their seeds some years ago if I remember correctly.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience with them.

I dont see the foxtails that you speak of.

They are not huge but i can see them starting and its only certain buds under 1 light. The others seem unaffected

Yes pacific seeds are junk, they are all fake genetics to, they just send you any seeds and claim they are a strain. Even all their “breeders” are fake made up by them.

Always check trusted pilot reviews before you buy anything from. An known website!
