FoxFarm Ocean Forest.. organic or regular?

New Grower Here:
I’m planting some white willow autos and some
Sour Diesel autos. I was planning on an outdoor grow in pots, then I ended up buying a grow tent kit, so the likelihood is that I’ll do some indoor and some outdoor. I have 4gallon pots. My main question is whether to opt for the organic FoxFarm Ocean Forest, or the regular FoxFarm Ocean Forest. In my research it seemed this was a good soil choice so I’m just torn on which variety to us. Thoughts and expert opinions are welcomed! Thanks!!

@New2GrowNot2Weed Welcome aboard!! What are your plans for nutes later? If your thinking organically maybe pair your soil to a suitable supplement line as well.

I’m using FFOF @ FFHF on a run of Super Lemon Hazes now.

So I bought the seeds here along with the nutrient kit and the plant protection kit. Totally draining the ilgm koolaid! I’m still a novice, so I’m generally looking to keep this as simple as possible, and am somewhat unsure of when I would or wouldn’t need to give the plants more nutrients. My assumption was to feed based on the schedule given here for the nutrient packs. If that makes sense?

There is no regular Ocean Forrest and Organic Ocean Forrest. Ocean Forrest is a type of premade up soil medium. You need to decide if your going to grow using bottled nutrients or go organic if your going to do soil. While I do use Ocean Forrest, I wont use Fox Farm nutrients at all on cannabis grows.

I was not aware FF OF came in two flavors. I used to use it. I checked foxfarm dot com and only see one ocean forest product.

@New2GrowNot2Weed well that settles it then lol!! Your using FFOF!!

And now onto this!! :+1:t2:

Haha easy enough!! I realized it was listed as “organic” on a few websites, but as I pay close attention the bag itself didn’t look any different. Odd, but thanks for settling this up everyone.

My plan was to use the Fertilizer Kit that I purchased here at ilgm along with the plant protection kit if needed, but I’m opened to suggestions if anyone has an easier better method? Since these are autos my understanding is that that should be a good bit easier to grow although I would obviously like to give them my best in this first go-round.

@New2GrowNot2Weed Bergmans is their brand and I used it on my last grow with great results it’s only 1 major complaint. I grew 4 plants and ran short on Veg and Bloom each. I should have bought a double order for the 4 because I’m heavy handed lol. Good luck with your grow journey!!

Thank you!!

The 2 bags of FFOF 1.5 cu, perlite, worm castings, mixed all together.

Are those 5 gal pots? Would this require the two nute feedings. Or is this different feeding mixture

So far, seems to easy.

7 gal.
The small empty containers are for transplanting the seedlings into next week with FF Happy Frog. Then another up pot later into the 7 gal.

Currently seedlings are in 1 quart of starter soil.

Now we cooking with gas.
Indoor, auto seed, in terms a futurer grower would understand, can you give growth difference in 5 gal versus 7 gal in harvest weight. Use your strains as reference.
I under stand other soil used for seedlings and hole for transplanting in the future.

Nutes?

FFOF is quite hot for autos, I recommend coast of maine Stonington blend. Super balanced and produces great results.

Tap my brakes for a second.

Alot her have been using and switching to Earth Dust organic nutrients i personally use fox farms happy frog amended with Earth Dust and the results are amazing and its the most simple laid back style of growing ive done sense i started cultivating all i do is practically water every other day and give them a compost tea once a week to every other week its as easy as mix and water i dont worry about ph or ppm’s or mixing nutrients just add water and some conpost here and there

@Mosca I’m not so sure there’s that much of a benefit from 5 up to 7 gal but that’s what I bought so I’ll ride’em out until I need replacements. I’ve seen monster plants in much smaller containers by more experienced growers so I’m not going to make any claims.
Here’s the 3 stages I have planned for this grow though.

Looks like professional setup, nice clean.

I only ask because space is premium in 4x4 space and 5 gals are smaller. Love wheel barrows, makes mixing easy and clean.

No reason to go with all the pot upsizing/transplanting. I start them off in solo cups and move them right into there grow pots and be done with it. Current auto grow I transplanted the seedling from the solo cups to there grow pots at 7 days. I use #5 nursery pots for autos which is aprox. 4.5 gal and #7 nursery pots for photos at 6.3 gal. Been using the same pots, elevators and saucers for better than 10 years.

Helmet head seedlings day 1.

7 days and transplanted to grow pots.

40 days this morning.

What compost tea do you use?
