Flexstar? Help thanks

I have a chance to buy this flexstar 720, he said it was used a couple months. Anyways it comes with the ballast of course and cords for $75.
What do you think? Is this a good brand

Flexstar claims 2.8umol/J. If true, then it is a decent light on par with those built with Samsung LM301b diodes. I do find it suspicious that they don’t say what diodes they use.

That said, if you can snag it for that price, then go for it.

Agree :backhand_index_pointing_up:t3:

Likely 301b or smd and Osram

75 is a steal compared to retail

Wonder why it was only used a couple of months

Thank you for your replies. The lights I’m using now currently are 2.8. I think this might be better than what I use. And from Reading their website they sound pretty Elite

There are 16 available

The same guy just told me he has 20 gavita 1700 e for 100 bucks. He claims maybe 4 months of use. This light retails for 1200

I think gavita is over priced for their diodes, but they flood
Most hydro shops.

Whatever you deside at buy a few to have back ups. Could provide you years or possible expansion.

Gavita is owned by the mothership and pushed by their distributor, the one that nearly all hydro shops have to use. Nothing special about their led lights but they’re not garbage and have major name recognition.

I could never understand their ridiculous price tag. They use the older smd right? I remember when I first started shopping around for lights and comparing brands. Kinda always felt like people were buying the name.

I don’t even remember what they use, but I seen their first light irl at hydro shop next to mediocre competitors.

The one thing that stuck with me was the amount of shit talking that came from gavita team in the years running up to them releasing their own led offering. They’re probably still the first name in hid grow lights but it doesn’t seem to translate to led tech.
