Gavita Pro 1650e?

Does anybody happen to be familiar with the Gavita pro 1660 e ?? a buddy of mine has one for sale. He did one run with it. He told me to make him an offer. I was wondering if anybody knew the quality of the light and maybe something like that would be worth??

Looking up info I dont see much about the actual components used. One site only said Osram and Samsung diodes, but failed to say which particular ones were used. If they wont list the particular diodes then they are not really top bin diodes. I have a feeling it was an overpriced ($1400.00 List Price) unit sold by many hydro websites and Amazon. Most I find say unit is No longer available. The updated unit, the 1700e has only a 50% 5 star rating and I am sure most of those are paid. So a comparable HLG unit is the Blackbird, a 600w unit with a list price of $699.00. On sale it will be less soon as the 420 sale is upcoming. You can purchase an HLG 600rspec refurbished for 500 with the code “DUDE”. So for me, I wouldn’t pay more than 200 dollars for that light. And I would probably only use it for vegging. Your friend would probably be insulted to hear that price after paying 1400 for the light. But if you can buy a brand new top of the line light with the same wattage for 5 to 7 hundred, then a used light of much lesser quality isn’t worth much.
This is just my opinion.

Did you mean the Gavita pro 1650e ?? Nice bar design but a bit dated by horticultural lighting.
I’d go with one with a more advanced spectrum but still a “Bar light” design and extension cable to move the LED Driver outside of the grow area.

Thank you I appreciate that. No more cheap lights for me. HLG. Is the way to fly in my opinion.

Do they have any bar lights in their line? The quantum board is a good design but creates hot spots which do not spread the energy evenly. I’d like to see them innovate more.

I can understand that. I have pretty good airflow, so it doesn’t really bother me at all. HLG lights work the best when your canopy is about 85°. Mine stays at about 83°. I’m happy with that. And the longevity of the HLG light is something special. I am curious with those cheaper bar lights how much light they will be producing when they are four and five years old.

Samsung and OSRAM diodes with meanwell driver.
I only run mine during the winter, so I should be good. The HYPHOTONFLUX I have is going on four years.
With better airflow and by moving my Meanwell driver outside of the tent I should be good.
Where is your LED driver located? Hopefully not on top of that quantum board.

I don’t know why I have not turned it up to 100%. I guess I have been thinking that it would last longer if I have it and it’s so damn bright anyway but yes the driver is on top. It actually works out well for me because I’m in the basement And I can use all the heat that I can get in the winter time I run and HPS light to get my temperature up
