I’m proud of myself! With ignorance and luck I bought photo seeds for my first grow. These plants had a very rough start, and I killed one early on, but I’m so happy that I had the time to turn it around. I finally flipped to flower last week after ten weeks in veg. Cereal milk on the left, og kush on the right. General hydro nutes, cal mag every time, and just added in koolbloom which is the plan for the duration of the grow.
Coco perlite watering every ~five days/ when the bags are light . Is that controversial?
I also wonder about defoliation. I’ve removed some lower leaves and random suckers that’ll never reach the light. I see a lot of purists about keeping plants intact, but I’ve always been a pruner. I have a clip fan blowing lightly over most of the canopy, but air flow is probably not ideal.
Any suggestions as I get into fruiting?! I’m so excited. Y’all have been a great resource.
Also— did you know you can do other things in the tent?!? I put pussywillow stems from a birthday bouquet in the tent to root and they fkn flowered! And rooted. Got blueberry cuttings in there now, had flower seeds in there, and a test bag of mushrooms.
The original idea came from here but using castors on the bottom to rotate but the lazysussan makes it smother and more easily rotated. That was my buddys upgrade. LOL
You should water alot more. Coco isn’t like soil. It maintains oxygenation without a wet dry cycle. It should never go dry. I water mine 6 times a day at the end of flower. I imagine without automatic watering you should water daily. Maybe even morning and evening. Also i water coco to runoff every watering.
Your plants look great! My last two grows were in 70/30 coco/perlite and I watered once daily, always with nutes, always with about 20% runoff. When you flip to 12/12 to initiate flowering, make sure there is no light pollution for the dark period. If you have power strips, heaters, humidifiers, etc. inside your tent with a little led indicator light, then cover the light with tape.
I was watering to runoff every day for about six weeks until I went to my local hydro store. Non legal state but they had some massive hemp plants. 95% of what I read online says every single day. I made them really convince me that otherwise would be okay.
I only really got growth when I stopped watering every day.
Frequency is increasing with size and temps outside, but it’s a life improvement to not do it every day. I measure runoff EC with every watering and it’s staying about +300 of what I put in. Which I know is the top range for ideal runoff, but I have no signs of nute burn and I switched to the most aggressive feeding schedule with still no signs of burn. I’m gonna keep watering spaced out until I see negative effects, or until I see them needing it every day.
Feels weird to break the rules on first time, but it’s working…
Wasent my idea at first someone else had the frame idea with castors as said but my buddy came up with the lazysussan and transformed from a really good idea to a brilliant one. For a 3x3 i cant think of a more versatile design.
I run high frequency fertigation so every day is just a guess. Just keep an eye on them and remember that coco requires more water than soil. They are looking good so far.
