I’m going to keep a real close eye and see how she does over the next couple of days. Concerns are up as the small holes appeared in a couple hours. I may have end up having to start over… again🤦🏻♂️
So, using a small twig I lifted the cotyledon and I FOUND THE CULPRIT!!! It’s literally maybe a millimeter long. This worm is going to the graveyard and my girl is coming in for the rest of this stage. Looks like a tiny webworm and they start coming out at this time. I noticed a couple of web strands this morning thinking a little spider may have crawled over it’s container.
If you live in an area where they are common, keep an eye out!! I’ve seen them turn entire pecan trees into leafless, giant brown q-tips in less than a week!
I’m going to bring her in, since I obliterated my plant predator, spray the yard tomorrow, and hopefully in about two weeks, she will be ready to come back out, and all the pests are gone. I only use plant and animal safe pesticides in my yard. My girl(s) will never be directly in ground either so no residual chemicals will contaminate anything.
Between the weather, and now this friggin guy, it would seem the odds are against me.
Thank you. The actual holes were from his invasive little axx. The lighter almost hole to the right, in the top pic, was noticable when I got her open and where the first leaves were smashing the cotyledons trying to bust out, but that stinkin membrane was holding it shut. I tell ya, this girl is going through it. We’ll get there even if it’s a full 3 months to harvest!
Man, my girl looks beat. I brought her in the night before last. Between the membrane not coming off for two days after sprout, the almost 8" of rain the 2 days after, and the stupid worm that ate her up, she has been through her first 5 days.
But there is hope, yet! She has new growth coming in. She hasn’t gotten taller in 2 days, but new growth means development and that is alright with me. I’m not doing this professionally and as with everyone, this is more or less a trial and error run.
I got her set up under a cfl and am leaving her on a 24 hr cycle for 2 weeks, then in and out for a week, after I’ve hellasprayed the yard, of course to harden her up, then outside for the rest of Summer.
Also, my wife dropped a seed (GSCE auto as well) a couple nights ago and it popped so we may have a little beginner grow-off lol. Will update.
Leaves are definitely bigger this morning. Looking a little taller also. Thing is, I dropped another seed the night I brought her thinking she was just too beat up, and it’s popping.
She’ll be in the dirt before the day is over. Other girl popped as quick, but was slow to actually get a tail. This one here popped and went to the races!
Possibly triplets. My wife planted hers last night and is trying to go for strictly outdoor. But, same thing with the first one on this journal, it’s pouring outside.
