First time using grow tent

Yep true story! If you can put together a new vacuum you can build a light. I tried to be pretty detailed in my build to help folks build their own.

Now that I think about it, i could put you in contact with the sales rep from china who got me a test light to try.
Its going to be Chinese and not very powerful, but its going to be for free also if you are located in the USā€¦
I also have another contact to test lights on the UK.

Letā€™s try to compare the lights you suggested against the Mars fixtures, just for the sake of comparisonā€¦

The Niello uses 210w from the wall, to produce this result :

And the smaller Mars uses 140w from the wallto produce this result :

So, the Mars has a very even distribution of power, and is pulling relatively decent numbers at the edges of the coverage area, while the Niello doesnt even dare to make public their full coverage numbers, going instead for the maximum number they can pull on the center, wich is BS unless you are using it on only one plant.
The Mars is making more power with around 30% less energy and with a very even distribution.

Go for the bigger one wich is about 260 usd, and the numbers more than double and you will be able to relatively rock TFO that grow space in flower(very close to the best at 260usd,specially compared to a typical cheap Chinese light)

Aaaaaaaaaand i just remembered about this oneā€¦

Wich i would have over the Mars Hydroā€¦
It would be down to the footprint i can get for flowering and the Mars is physically longer, so it will have a different shape coverage.

But Californialightworks>Mars Hydro in my mind

Im wondering what the local LED guru thinks about that Mars Hydro light, especially at that priceā€¦
Maybe thereā€™s a better option for a plug and play, ready to use, relatively modern, good spectrum light for under 250 usdā€¦

Thatā€™s awesome i decided to check in here for that i seen the price was cut in half I was literally gonna order it but if itā€™s trash i wonā€™t i guess Iā€™ll wait another week and grab something better i originally got a kind led xl750 the delivery was late and it costed a ton so i was able to get refunded and with that money i bought the tent the exhaust filter fans and soil and seeds lol so here i am today i was originally gonna use Mylar on the walls in my basement under the staircase but since i got the money back on the light i got the tent and searching thru the internet i found you guys and lifeā€™s been better ever since thank you all

So, from my amateur, but trying to learn everyday point of view, I think the physically longer Mars Hydro SP250 at 260 usd would work better for me because of the wider footprint for flower.
If you want a more squared light, i canā€™t honestly think of anything better than the Californialightworks SolarXtreme 250, wich is NOT chinese, very well made in the USA, with costumers swearing that they can go no problem for over 8 years, and great yields.
But for my 4x4 tent Iā€™ll rather have the longer Mars Hydro and later add another QB to fully cover the 16 square ft.
One thing i like very much about QBs is the fact that they donā€™t use a fan, so they are fully silent while operating.
I can hear the Phlizon through the door of the room it is in.

You might want to get ahold of them if your fan is loud they have really good customer service and wonā€™t hesistate to look out for ya i canā€™t hear my tent at all at the moment i brought it up from the basement to the dining room and when Iā€™m laying on the couch in the living room i canā€™t hear a thing also set your timer to a time where you want quite that helps a lot if your doing 18/6 stillā€¦i did 24/0 for the first two weeks and i started 18/6 last week and i see how fast theyā€™ve grown i also hit both switches on last night and got my humidity down to 64

Yeah, Iā€™ve thought of doing that, the problem is i am im Colombia, so i have a friend helping me with the stuff from Amazon and then sending it to me, and right now i canā€™t afford to not use the Phlizon, as i currently have my 4 plants + a friendā€™s plant inside my tent, and my other light, a Bestva 1000w, belongs to the owner of the extra plant i have, so im fckd for lights until i can afford the Mars or an HLG kit in a few months, and also im waiting for a test light from Roleadro, an 800w (actual 190w from the wall) wich they say its really full spectrum at a color temp of 3500k, wich sounds good enough to help my 2 lightsā€¦
But when i finish the flowering process i plan on contacting Phlizon or just do some maintenance myself, it probably is a bit dirty and in need of oiling the fans or somethingā€¦ Im a DIY guy when needed.
Ill rather try and clean it myself before having to send it to my friend and asking him to deal with the warrantyā€¦
Im planning on flowering the 5 plants as soon as the Roleadro 800w test light is here in maybe a week, finish the process with the 3 lights, then probably sell the Roleadro and get more money together for an HLG diy kit.
Ill keep the Phlizon for veg, as i like the ā€œdwarfingā€ properties of its spectrum of light.
Or, if the Roleadro turns out to be good, Iā€™ll sell the Phlizonā€¦
Itā€™s all about learning at this point, and trying stuff.
Im not expecting the greatest results from the 3 Chinese lights together on top of 5 plantsā€¦
My goal is going to get as close as possible to 1g of dry herb per watt used by thre lights from the wall.
Between the 3 lights im going to be using around 480w from the wall, so hopefully ill be close to a pound of herbā€¦
That would be perfect, and ill be very happy.

But im upgrading as soon as possible to the latest kit from HLG as soon as possible, because 30% less energy used over a period of several months like 5 in my case, really is a lot of money i can save.
And being able to possibly get 2g x watt used instead of 0.5 makes my grow tent 4 times more productive, using less energy.

I wish people could sell their stuff on here lol we need a ilgm garage sale :joy:

Thatā€™s how Iā€™m using it @Juanhdtv. I am using it in 2x4 for both veg and flower

Man thatā€™s totally up to you. If I knew I could build my own before I bought the XL 320 I would have and either saved money or had more light. I like to build my own to so that kinda leans heavy my way. The 320 is like 475 with 400 you could build a really nice light. @dbrn32 is the man on the lights but plenty have built them including @imSICKkid @Killadruid and many more.

If you are comfortable cutting some aluminum then I would highly suggest putting that 400 towards a DIY light. You will get way more bang for your buck, and we could walk you through everything.

What size area are you trying to grow in?

Iā€™m using a 4x2x5 tent
