You can Scrog without a net but you need to have patience. I prefer wild, massive beasts. With all my injuries to the spine makes this style of grow more friendly on the spine.
That’s totally understandable. With my current light, I probably will not even attempt to scrog, just because I want to keep those plants as close to directly under the light as possible. Probably will make them easier to move around and handle as well.
Once I place them in their forever home and in the tent, they don’t get moved. I’ve killed a couple doing that like when my glasses fell off. All stupid crap.
Good to know.
Once the seeds are in the soil, they will be directly in the tent and I have no intentions of moving them for the rest of the grow. With only 2 autos in the tent, there should be plenty of room in the 4x4.
Oh you will have plenty of space for them. I hope these Autos I have in the soil actually grow. I can not move my lights whatsoever. I could always throw one of my Viparspectra PAR600 lights in the tent.
I have the 3 seeds in a 5 gallon bucket till they are big enough to transfer. Then one is going into a 15 gallon fabric pot and the autos in 5 gallon buckets.
Alrighty guys! The time has come. Starting Germination on 2 Northern Lights autos tonight.
Going to soak and then plant directly in the final pot.
I have FFOF and FFHF for soil. What would be a good blend to run for this grow?
@VTGROW @MrPeat @Spiney_norman
I’ve heard a lot of people do 60% FFHF and 40% FFOF, but I wanted to get you guys’ advice before I prepared the soil.
I’m so incredibly excited for this! I can’t wait to get them going
@Doobert I have never used FFHF soil but I would have a nice amount in the center of the pot. Dig amount 6” down and put the FFHF in center and place the seed there. So there is a decent sized buffer.
Sounds like a plan to me! I have heard that the OF is a little hot for some autos, so I was wondering if maybe I should do an 80/20 blend and then the 6” in the center of just the HF? Just wondering you guys thoughts. I’ve got no problem doing all OF on the outside either, I just want to make sure the ladies don’t get any type of nute overload from the soil.
I just got the seeds placed in the distilled water and placed in the tent with the light off! So first grow is officially started!
I will be starting a grow journal either tonight or tomorrow. I’ve really appreciated all you guys help with this so far, and if you feel like watching the grow, everyones advice is more than welcome and definitely will help this newbie out.
I did have one other question. At work now brainstorming and getting excited to prepare the soil and plant the seeds tonight. I was wondering though… Once the seeds are in the soil and the pots are in the tent, am I good to turn the light on immediately? I did not know if they still needed darkness for a moment once they are in the soil or not. @MrPeat
@Doobert Yup…turn on the light. Just adjust according to how hot the light is on your hand aka hand just above the pot. I hope that make sense. Kinda like checking a milk bottle for how hot it is on your skin.
Makes perfect sense to me! Thanks again for all the help. Can’t wait to get them started and get the grow journal going.
Totally agree start high and gradually lower do the hand test after about 3weeks old.
Right on! The light produces practically no heat. I can have my hand 2 inches under the light and leave it there for over 5 minutes. The temp is resting at 70-73 degrees and 45% humidity in the tent. I have domes over the soil currently. Since the light produces barely any heat at all, I have had it between 28-32” above the soil. I was just unsure where to put it because I can’t test for heat.
It does have 3 fans in the back of it for cooling. So maybe this is one of the reasons why there is barely any heat?
After doing a lot of reading on the site, I think my next upgrade is going to be 2 of the HLG 260 XL Rspecs. That lighting upgrade is exactly what I need to get my tent where I want it.
I know man I’m going after a Q bored if I could find one for under a hundred
