Hey All,
i live in the northern states, Massachusetts to be exacted. it’s late spring at this point. do you think it would be too late to grow outdoor fems?
I am growing critical mass. i started them indoors about two weeks ago.
Welcome to the community! I would say sure on that, but I grow in FL. We can go from March to Oct. I’m sure others can give help on a good time line for Mass. Happy Growing!
Welcome from NY. I’m about to put 3 (4weeks old) out in the garden. They’ve been getting “hardened” outdoors in partial sunlight for a few days. My plan is to keep them mobile in pots so they can come in if needed. Right now we have @ 15hrs of daylight. 12 hrs daylight is @ Sept. So photo period plants have plenty of time to get LARGE. My 2 autoflowering plants are flowering after only 3 1/2 weeks so they’ll be ready to chop sometime in Aug. while the photo will get LARGE till Oct. sometime I guess. Hope this is helpful.
thank you. this is helpful. my only question is that the sprouts are a little stretched. about 3 inches long. i’m using a small 80W light for now but i will start hardening this outdoors 4-6 hours at a time? is this okay practice?
Welcome to your new happy place Sure, you can put outside soon. Start little at a time to get them use to real sun and temps. Then, they will be growing into young mature ladies. have fun
R they in forever pots? Bury stem before going outside, u don’t want to lose her
They stretch searching for the light
No. they are in solo cups right now. should I transplant them soon?
I think we need pics. what soil?
i think i’m being a helicopter parents at this point. it’s only been 2 weeks at this point. I topped them off with more soil around the stem to give them more support like suggested. the soil i added was dry but the soil at the root system is moist.
the soil is 100% fox farm ocean forest.
is it bad to use 100% FFOF?
That’s what i use. I plant seed directly in my forever pots.
Someone should be here soon to help u with the transplant. I don’t do outside. I would plant in pots but leave them inside for a while.
or i am answering the wrong thing, just give me the boot. Happy high Memorial day. Thank you all.
I am sooooo off my rocker right now. Wann bet @ nevermind I forgot. Anyhoo
peace
You don’t want to transplant till the leaves grow out over the edges of those Dixie cups. Then, in your “forever pot” make a hole the size and shape of an empty Dixie cup. Moisten the hole with warm not hot water and get the plant, root ball and all into the hole with no root jostling. Never over water your seedling. Water around the plant in a 2-3 inch perimeter. Remember those seedling roots are very very tiny and can be drowned. You need to make them seek water and they will grow from day one of transplant with no slow down or recovery if done correctly.
Welcome from neighboring NY! I’ve heard around mother’s day in the NE but cant say for sure, i just started some white widow autos to plant outside in a few weeks.
@kwall429 , you should make that hole in the transplant pot deeper, so you can burry those longer stems. As @beachglass said; they are stretching to get more light. So get them closer to your inside light till transplant.
Just do it u might find out tht be helpful for all I just took a plant from inside to out after harvesting top trying to reguvanate plant bck to veg
ok. i have them outside on a roof deck now to get better light. They have been fine up until today when they got knocked over by a gust of wind. I put more soil in 2 of them to prop them back up and use clear solo cups to makeshift a green house for wind protection. but will they survive being knocked over?
They’ll no doubt like it. Because they may get more O2 to the root zone. Remember roots need oxygen and leaves need that poisonous greenhouse gas called carbon dioxide. With a commercial indoor grow they supply extra carbon dioxide for greater yield. On the other end of the plant fabric pots are used in order to supply O2 for the root zone. You know that $5+ per gal gas soon to become $7-10? That’s a CO2 tax right there. I’d say lol but I hate that, and it’s not funny.
