First time grower looking for advice and help along the way

Ok ok just trying to make sure I get what I want and need @Nicky. I’ve been reading diy lights all am and comparing to the hlg 260 xl. In all fairness I think I spent my time researching and reading but every time I read, some new kind of light or strips have been released. Not in a rush at all. Until just a couple, days ago I thought I was ok with lights so sry for driving you crazy.

I going to order 1 of the 260W XL QB V2 RSPEC LED KIT
Or 2 of the 260w qb v1
Today!!!

Hopefully I can get another soon to light up my whole tent.

Thanks @dbrn32 @Nicky

Did you happen to notice the current price difference in kit you’re looking at?

I did @dbrn32. I went with your advice and Nickys and almost everyone else and got a 260 the xl for better coverage for my 4x4. Hope to get a second sooner then later

@dbrn32 can you or someone else point me in the direction I can find the kits for 2 X 4 tents? I’m sure ill upgrade my lights eventually. I’ll probably DIY them since electronics is one of my strong points. I just want to look at all my options. I’m known for looking at systems and coming up with my own thing and most of the time coming out ahead.

I am going to recommend what ever you get. Try and get at least the 72" tall one. It is a couple bucks more. but well worth it. And are you looking for a kit or just the tent? I have two of the 2x4 that are 72" tall and could post a link if wanted. I am happy with them so far. They are about 8 months old as a guess

I have everything. I’m just talking about upgrading my light. I have the 60" high tent but all I intent to grow is autos so it will do for now. My next tent I will build myself with PVC, the reflective matting that goes under car hoods, and velcro. Wont be as pretty as my Vivosun but will be just as functional and for a fraction of the cost. Ill probably sew material on one side of it for aesthetics and if I feel real wild I may try to put in zippers eliminating the need for the velcro.

You can buy sheets of mylar on amazon to do the tent too. just a fyi Some thing similar to this

You want the 260xl kit for 2x4 if going with qb’s.

Thank you @dbrn32.

@Not2SureYet that is some of the stuff I’ve looked at. The stuff I was referring to is reflective. They call it sound dampener for the engine compartment but I’m not talking about the good stuff that actually dampens the sound. Im talking about the ultra cheap stuff that you can get on a roll from places like JC Whitney for really cheap. Right about the same price as the stuff you listed.

I went balls to the walls and got a 320xl in my 2x4 so I recommended that lol but 260xl will of course work great to. But again being who you are I strongly recommend DIY!!!
You could get even coverage so much better with a diy option than even the 320xl…

I would just compare the 260xl rspec or the 320xl rspec to whatever your going to build (I got the 3k v2 prior to rspec but am still happy it’s produced some fat dense buds)

Mylar is meant for this type of light reflection so I would compare the cost and the properties of the material to see if your shorting yourself.

@Capt.Cola glad to hear it you will be happy, start saving for another one now lol. After the lights everything feels cheap

Oh yea it will very likely be DIY. But I generally look at as many designs as I can and incorporate the best parts of all of them. It’ll be a Frankenlight lol.

The stuff I’m talking about has a mylar surface. On some cars, if you open the hood, the underside of the hood has a sound dampening mat on it that has a reflective surface very similar to the surface of the inside of the Vivosun tents. That is the stuff I intend to use. The tent I am thinking about building will likely have a 6 X 8 footprint and be 8 feet tall. I won’t be using it all for growing space. In fact, I will only be growing 4 plants for harvest. I may have some mother plants to clone from though. I just like to have space when I work.

So I went and checked on my tent and found one of my seedlings has brown on the edges of one leaf. Could it be leaf burn from the light? Light is 30" from top. I do have a space heater to help regulate the temp. I’ll try and get a good pic of it.

Until you put up a picture of your plant , all you’ll get is guesses . It could be nutrient burn , light burn , mold or even pest !

After comparing pictures online it looks like nute burn. Would you agree? I watered a little more then usual yesterday morning and maybe that caused it? Should I be concerned or do something for it? It won’t get water for a couple days

Is the Botanicare Cal-Mag plus plant supplement 2-0-0 what you use? Thanks

I’m only a beginner myself, but I wouldn’t be giving seedlings any nutes and watering sparingly until strong enough to need more. Just speaking from my own personal fails, there are people far more qualified than myself to give you a diagnosis @shindig153, @kettle, @Bulldognuts, @PurpNGold74, @CoyoteCody ?

What’s the medium? Ro water or just tap?

By adding calmag you’d also be adding nitrogen to your soil. Probably best to leave the plant alone to get over the burn and get bigger. You don’t need much until flower in the soil you have.
