First time grower (go figure) looking for tips on the basics

@Hellraiser well you were right, when the power outage happened the timer switched to full time power… can’t believe I didn’t catch this sooner.

Are they ruined at this point? Where do I go from here? :sleepy:

Not ruined, you just super-cropped them, get them back to 12/12 light schedule and they’ll go back to flowering, just lost some time but will probably get a little bigger yield from it.

@Hellraiser phew… that’s good news. Little confused, by putting them back in veg I super cropped them? Or I should super crop them going forward?

One form of super cropping is revegging flowering plants and then flowering them, the growth will be a bit different but in a good way.

@Hellraiser so the plants are producing buds again. I’m still struggling with deficiencies… I believe cal/mag/iron. I’ve read that Epsom salts are great to use for these.

How do I apply Epsom salts? Can I use at the same time as calmag or should I cut that out? Do Epsom salts help with iron?

Can I use Epsom salts that I find from a drug store?

Sorry for the 100 questions just trying to figure out how to get these girls healthy

Epson salt is great at supplying magnesium which looks like what your plant needs. Can just mix with water at 1 tablespoon per gal. Adding calmag would add even more magnesium and calcium, maybe too much, unless you see brown spots on leaves (calcium problem) then I’d just go with the epsom salt for now. Any non-scented epsom salt would be fine and should be available at drug stores.

I fed plants on Saturday (12/26) test ppm in (900) and ppm out (1400) realized I had an issue since I never feed anything over 900 ppm thus far. I also measured ph out and it was 5.2… I don’t understand why this is because I always ph everything in at 6.2-6.5.

Today I did a heavy flush of all plants. I watered with plain water at ph 6.5. Measured run off of all plants at 6.3 then stopped flushing (~300 ppm)

Hopefully this will help my nute deficiency issues.

Today I fed the girls at 75% nute concentration according to the feed chart, figuring I’m in flower week 3 after the reset back to 12/12. On top of the floranova nutes I gave .5tbs/gal Epsom salt and ~2ml/ gal calmag.

When I feed at 100% strength it has burnt the plants and when I feed at 50% it leaves the girls hungry… idk how I got into this line of nutes but will prob never use again.

Finally got two plants looking “good” with one of them looking just as bad as it has if not worse.

I expected the plants to look hungry after the flush last week.

@Hellraiser strange thing happened today that I’m dumbfounded by. I flushed all soil last week until until runoff ph was 6.3 and ppm was <300 (still wanted to leave some nutes for the plant to live on until next feed)

Today my input was 6.5 ph and 1000 ppm (after all nutes). The runoff I collected was 5.6 ph and 1400 ppm. Even after the flush last week.

It’s like there is some chemical reaction going on inside the soil. Granted the soil is some cheap stuff from a local nursery which I will never do again.

Beyond this ph and ppm issue any other advice for plants?

Ph and ppm are ok, your plants don’t look too bad, just keep feeding with proper ph and good runoff and plants should be good.

Update on the girls, seeing some solid bud and resin production. Not sure how much longer I have but I’m just going to keep going through the motions. Not sure why the one plant tops have 5/6 bud sites instead of one? Seeing the importance of The net. Also see the complications of growing different strains in one tent. In all have learned a ton in the first round will be back for a second. Though I don’t post often (probably because I don’t get much action on my page) I am constantly reading and learning through others journals.

Right now I have been splitting 5 gal between the three of them feed/water/feed and repeat. A bit worried on when to start the flush but from what I gathered I have a lot of time left.

So I noticed that this patch of buds turned brown in the last two days… any idea what it is?

I think it’s potentially bud rot but the RH is 34% and I have two 6” fans blowing.

I also posted a close up of the trichomes, any idea how much long? Or how to deal with the brown stuff/ prevent it from spreading further?

@Hellraiser any advise on this?

Doesn’t really look like the usual budrot but maybe early stages, not sure as I’ve never seen bud rot except in pictures and it’s usually pretty far gone by that point.

As far as the trich shot, still see some clears so probably looking at a couple more weeks.

@imSICKkid @Myfriendis410 @Covertgrower Does this look like bud rot to you guys?

Not bud rot IMO: I believe it’s light bleaching/burning. What lights, how close?

Every GSC-X I’ve grown has responded to lights like that.

Not to go against you @Myfriendis410 but I’m pretty positive it’s not light bleaching. Colas next to it are taller without any signs or symptoms. That sure would scare the hell outta me though. I would probably bite the bullet and clip that off. It’s not broken or anything from tent maintenance is it @Mouthbreather

You could be right. My experience with bud rot though looked nothing like that. If the flower comes apart and is ‘mushy’, that’s bud rot. Now, caterpillars will kill a top like that as well; hopefully nothing like that in the grow space.

GSC-X? I’m using a Marshydro TLS 2000 (wish I joined this forum prior to buying the lights knowing what I know now)

The light is at 18”…

@imSICKkid i clipped it off out of panic earlier but worried if I see it spreading to other buds what to do?

When you said tent maintenance are you referring to the humidity and airflow?

Also is it safe to start a flush at this point?

I really appreciate all the help

I was talking about reaching around in there and accidentally breaking a bud off. And then maybe the area died. Happened to me once
