Well I’m ~4 weeks from germination. First time grower. I know the set up isn’t perfect but as with anything… good things come with time.
Reason for the post is everything was going smooth (in my eyes) until I noticed some discoloring on a few leafs.
Any thoughts on what the condition may be?
Also going I plant to do some LST with these but will need some guidance.
Thanks to all that check it out!
@imSICKkid hey dood I created this topic as discussed yesterday…
If you need any info the day prior to noticing the discoloring I fed with some nutes (can’t remember brand) but it was fairly mild, less then recommended on bottle. Also gave some calmag for the first time, as recommended on bottle.
I ph’d water added a bit of ph up and ended at 7.3. I’ve read I should be 5.8-6.5 but the ph down hadn’t arrived yet so I used water anyways.
I’m growing in topsoil I bought from local nursery.
Also just switched to 12/12 that day. I know they could veg for longer but worried about room in tent.
Let me know what you think

Plant looks to be lacking in magnesium. I would get a good runoff number of the ph and ppms. Slowly soak the pot with water ph’d to 6.5 and collect the runoff. Make sure your ph is in check and see where your ppms are. After you do this it may be time to start incorporating more food into your waterings.
If you already flipped your lights I wouldnt worry about LST. Let them grow UP instead of tying them down.

@imSICKkid when it comes to ppm, what readings do I want to collect to indicate it’s time for another feed?
Thanks for the advice!
In the runoff the difference between water input ppm and the run off ppm will indicate how dense your soil in packed with usable nutrients, refer to your feeding chart for what your ppm should be at but I think at that size roughly 400 ppm difference im an organic grower so im rather unsure

Just depends on what nutrient line your using. After you get your numbers we’ll know alot more

Also it varies on strains some strains thrive under a heavy handed feeding schedule while others require a more delicate touch.

Looking around at other people’s grows the plants seem very “dense”, should I trim any of the larger leafs?
Hey @imSICKkid, ever used captain jacks dead bug brew? I’m having some pest issues was curious how to use/what concentration to mix?
I have not but there should be mixing directions on the bottle. I know that when spraying plants with any type of foliar spray it’s best to do it whenever the lights are about to go off to avoid any light burning on the leaves
SOS - I haven’t been active much (life got very busy) but Everything was going decent with grow until today…
Had some bug issues not sure exactly what they were but I used DE on soil (placed ~2in) and used captain jacks dead bug brew on leaves… seemed to take care of bugs. Had smooth sailing for a few weeks then this.
Had 2 males that I removed and now have 3 girls left to work with (which is good the tent was crowded)
I’m not sure what caused my issues so I will explain my routine below…
I’ve been splitting a gallon of water (filtered tap water ppm ~70) between the three girls ph at 6.3-6.7 with 4 ml of calmag every other day. I water twice between each feeding.
My feed is the exact same as my water but I’m using floranova grow (1 tsp) and floranova bloom (1 tsp).
@imSICKkid could you please give me a helping hand on what the issue might be?
Also if anyone else has tips on anything I could be doing please add your thoughts, 2 heads are better than 1 extremely inexperienced head
@Hellraiser any ideas of what the issue could be?
They look hungry to me and I imagine with just a gallon between them that you are not getting much or any runoff. I’d give them a good flush with ph’d water to reset the soil and feed more often (every other watering) and bump up the amount of water so you get a good amount of runoff each time, 10% runoff minimum, I shoot for 25% runoff.
@Hellraiser thanks for the advice! Even tho they look hungry you think a flush is still in order?
On second thought, may be better to just give them a nice feeding with enough water to also act as a mini-flush, like a couple gallons of water/nutes each, gets 2 things accomplished at once.

@Hellraiser doesnt a calmag issue also cause purple stems trying to remember?

A magnesium deficiency can cause purple stems, as well as other deficiencies, can also be a bit genetic as many of my strains have purple stems normally.

@SKORPION @Hellraiser thank you both! I know from reading around there’s not a cut and dry amount of water that each plant should receive, but what would be a good estimate? 1 gal each… 2 gallons split between the three?
