First Outdoor Grow after years of layoff

4X8X7’ Veg. and Flower room framing. I plan on 16, 5 Gal. production. Powered by 2 600 Watt MH for Veg. and HPS for flower. Lined with white Mylar.

Last of the Autoflower for this year. I hope to put them in the ground in a week or 2. They could be Golden Leaf, Blueberry, Amnesia Haze or Northern Lights. One of the strains from the multi pack that ILGM so greatly puts together for us. My next grow will be soooo much more organized.

I have learned so much already. I have ordered several things to help with germination and will be going to pick up most of the ingredients for “Super Soil” this week. I have learned to germinate using low watt florescents to decrease stretching. Not using evil Miracle Grow products. I think I had an issue with the seedling dropping off. I looked at the Perlite bag and sure enough added Miracle Grow nutrients. I’ll be using Roots Organics from a local distributor instead of making my own stew. Use what works. I am planning on a much bigger grow in a week or 2 so for those of you following, would you prefer I add to this one or start a new thread?

No…it’s awesome that you got learning curve education materials to start with I think… lol that’s my opinion, not worth much but I have been following along…nice job man . It’s a passion

Yup. Learning is best done hands on without spending an assload of money. And im a food grade DE guy. That :poop: is everywhere around here. It kills the larva/egg stage. With pillars i combed EVERY INCH n crushd em personally with my fingers. Smaller pests i used hydrogen peroxide. (Helpd me. Hurt someone else) ive advocated Captain Jacks’s and Neem Oil n Spray. But never during flower. There are approachs…

Okay I’m refreshed now you got more seeds sent right? Well if I didn’t already welcome to the site man I hope you knock it outta the park. Starting a grow fresh with this site behind you is a winning combination. I see when you say something you mean it. Nice going on the room. You are in a shed? Your gonna ac or heat it? Where are you located?

Coolio, @PurpNGold74 I started reading up on Peroxide and water spray after learning about it here. I prefer to use as organic as possible. I have the food grade and was looking at the Captain Jacks. Do you use these as preventative or just when you see damage already done? I read spraying twice a day with Peroxide water helps minimize bugs and helps with cellular development. Positive, positive.

Yes they sent promptly. Waiting for arrival, but will be waiting til next summer to sprout. I’m going to plant some Skunk, White Widow, Blue Rhino, and Sour Diesel Feminized. I want to create some clones for a good sized outdoor grow for next year and also some medicine for my friends and neighbors and myself. Thus the new grow room. We all just couldn’t afford it anymore so I am answering the call. I’m somewhere in the south Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana. You know that kinda climate. I am building inside of my shed. I am building my family a house so that’s why I have some materials left over for this project. Still not free though. Trying to keep costs to a minimum. I like the idea of LED lights but MAN those things are pricey.

All 3 are good preventative measures for all 3 stages. U want eggs, larva, adults. Peroxide went miles when i needed it. Just i stopped prematurely and lost the plant to critters. So i kept the others damp an extra week or two past necessary. But be wary of spraying buds with ANYTHING. A good regime in veg will save u that hassle

They pay for themselves fast with proper bud formation, savings on electric, 50,000 hr lifespan & not buying cheap shit over and over. You can build them and save …man I’m having the exact same convo - I’m gonna tag you to read…

Or go here …either way

My plan is to run the 2 HPS ballasts into the ground and replace with LED when that happens. I may elect to add some smaller LED for the broader light spectrum. Besides the different colors they put off just look real cool too.

Well that’s cool you have a plan in motion & know what you need to do. It sucks when you shatter ppls dreams telling them that their 500 watt blurple LED isn’t going to grow a high times centerfold. I’m kinda talking with @Bluedonut09 now about the same topic…

No kidding. I know this setup is prolly old school but I’ve seen it produce some pretty good Bud. When doing the seedlings, should I even bother using those spongey type grow mediums? I ordered some cause I know they work great for clones and wanted to try and eliminate some of the shock that comes from transplanting.

I hate those pellet root thingys. Some can use em with 100%… i always dampen them off (drown) or drought… soak in a cup, paper towel, into dirt works perfect for me

I agree. I have had the best result using said technique. I do the same thing as far as drowning. I may experiment on a couple of seeds but plan to do majority “good ole reliable”.

I don’t use rockwool or anything for clones or seed. I do sit my clones in a collar and net for aeroponic cloner but I’m happy…

Definition - What does Cloning Collar mean?

Cloning collars are small discs that are usually made from neoprene or a similar closed cell sponge material. They are used to support plant cuttings that are being grown hydroponically.

The cloning collar makes the use of growing medium unnecessary because the collar offers the same support that soil or some other substrate would afford the cutting.

I had to look it up. Thank you @LoCoRock for that.

U can also use pool noodles (shoutout @OldSchoolGrower :joy:)

I’d have to see it in action. Looks interesting though. I’ll see if there’s a video for it.
