Yes, this is exactly what you want them to be doing. It’s good to water in a circle away from the stem to encourage root development. @Whodat66 has got you covered on this one.

I did exactly the same thing with the pots (filling-wise) and 2 plants have 2" and 4" (ish) of spare ‘pot-edge’. I folded them down to help with airflow. I’ll tag you on my grow journal, follow if you want

Little update pic on my gals. I think things are going well. I will most likely be building an additional light for the next round, I think they’re aching for more!
