I know what you mean - I keep on forgetting where I read stuff when I want to refer! ![]()
I didn’t know if there was an optimum time to flip based on growth or canopy.
I’ll get the hang of this yet!

Awesome. Thanks mate. I am assuming it will be when most of the branches have reached their termination to go upwards - but I don’t know how much vertical space from canopy to screen at that ‘optimum time’. We will both be taking notes mate!
On the note of space and flipping. I imagine what size I want my plants to be in flower. I want them to be a certain size so that canopy is maximized capturing light.
This changes each grow I have based on the number of plants in the square footage. (16sqft) I will be flipping sooner this time around because I have more plants filling the space. I prefer to crowd mine just a bit, but not too much that the branches are intertwined into its neighbors.
There’s no set time, just how it fills the space. I think this part is experience, and knowing what the plant will do and how much it will stretch.
Sorry for the delay, I was out laying slabs
. The PH is a touch low but nothing to worry about. I would water as required but don’t feed till those numbers come down. Low for me is around 500-700 on a mature plant. Babies I like to keep lower again to avoid burn. These plants are amazing, don’t do it properly and they will let you know within days ![]()

Thanks mate. it sounds like I should probably flip sooner rather than later - this time at least. It will allow me to see how much weaving is going to be needed. I have a feeling that once they flip they will move fast. Yes, it is the intertwining I want to avoid. I’ll have the 3 big trained girls and 3 short veg topped girls - I think it will get a bit hectic in there. I’d rather not be overwhelmed and balls it up.
I know the timing will be the same on all 6! BONUS!!! ![]()
I would recommend elevating them to the light, so you get good flower production. If they’re too far away, they be a little on the larfy side.
All good mate.
I don’t have a good pH meter yet - just the basic aquarium checker - but I know I’m not miles off.
In future I will have to flush the soil heavily before use on little ones. Hoping they can fight through this overload. It will likely be 4-5 days before they look like needing a drink - so I am sort of trapped…
They sure do scream out when you get it wrong!

I was going to give them a couple of days to acclimatise to the light (and the nutrient overload) before lifting them.
Am I better off just getting them up there?
They are tops with good stem and growth points - I want to keep them low and bushy - will a couple of days matter?
Or is there no point in delaying?
Don’t delay, they’ll be okay.
Awesome - thanks mate. Now I need to find them some lifts… Thanks for the tip!!!

@Dman1969 Yes I use FFOF only. I have one 15 gallon fabric pot that ate up all the nutrients in the soil. I need to get another one set up as its a long process to eat up the nutrients in the soil. This means I reuse it but I have to add nutrients with the first week above ground. ![]()

They will be fine. Don’t need to flush the nutrients out just keep some used compost that has already been depleted. There’s enough in it for the youngsters to feed and grow in
Curling under, wilting, yellowing tips… Nute burn or defficiency.
Curling upwards with yellowing tips… light burn.
Drooping… Lack of Water
At least that’s what I’ve read anyway. @Budz420 happy Grow, heavy harvest.
Drooping can be a sign of overwatering also. Overwatering and under-watering have the same symptoms. ![]()

Hello @Budz420
I m really keen to learn how to clone. The people on here are just awesome and information is like gold.
Following your progress and hope all goes well with girls.
Regards
Cloning is so incredibly efficient!
One thing this run has taught me about cloning - is that I know nothing! ![]()
Lesson 1: Canna-Terra Pro is too hot for seeds or small clones. It is excellent sol - capable of the full veg period with nothing added except water. The soil will need to be properly flushed if starting clones to get the ppm waaay down!
As a result, I have to wait to see if the clones will ‘grow into’ the soil - because I don’t want to over-water. So they need to fight through the next 5-6 days before I can give another drenching.
If you want to learn to clone - watch my mistakes!
I’ll get them there - it is just protracted because I am waiting for recovery before pushing on.
Yeah it’s the soil - it is too hot for seedlings or clones. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. ![]()
Yeah, just keeping an eye on them - not going to panic and make the situation worse.
I don’t have any used compost (first grow of anything). Hopefully they pull through, I am reasonably confident though. When I was given the original 3, they were about 6" tall and grown in coco. I transplanted them into the existing soil - and they didn’t skip a beat - no adverse signs.
That being the case, the next week or so SHOULD be enough for it to adjust and kick on.
I will change my cloning process going forward based on this - so although it is a setback - it is one I can learn a lot from. ![]()
