First grow under way! Three Lemon Haze 100% sativa in a 4 x 4 x 7 in soil under 900W LED

Nute burn for sure mate. How’s your runoff looking. Doesn’t take much to burn them at that stage. My youngsters usually get it as I use the same soil that I use for my adults. I try to use depleted compost but I get the mix wrong now and then :man_facepalming:

How big was the root mass when you transed them, did you flush the new soil before the trans, how hot is that soil, was the new soil dry enough…:sunglasses::v:

Thanks mate - I was wondering that - as the three failed clones look similar! Damn! Ok. So when they are small, they rely on water provided via leaves, as they grow - through the roots… DAMN!!! Ok…
I haven’t watered to run-off. I am set up for that now - as I had a feeling it would be the soil being too hot.
I’ll water to run off and see what I get. I cannot get over the ability of this soil to hold water. The big girls just took 2 gallons shared over 3 x 5 gallon pots! Took every drop!
I’ll find out what the run off is - this side is totally new to me.

Thanks mate, the roots were just starting to touch the solo cup - certainly not overcrowded. The clones had a small squirt the previous day (to make sure they didn’t fall apart on transfer. The 3 gallons were prepped the day before - watered - but not much. Let them sit in the tent overnight to get a little warmth. I gave them 50 ml each after transfer. I use Canna-soil Pro - but have never watered to run off (only got a meter a couple of weeks back). It felt like a really good re-pot - no issues and no concerns of over watering.
I’m going to water to run off now - and see what it tells me. Thanks for the input mate - much appreciated.

Your numbers won’t be particularly high but they will be high for youngsters. Just water for a while with no nutes and they will get through it

In that case, @Davyg got you on nutes…your soil is too hot for them…you can do a proper flush, it will help a bit…just don’t drown them…:sunglasses::v:

I can see where I went wrong. Assuming that because the tops are the same age as the big girls, they would happily play in the same dirt. When in fact, they are more like seedlings due to the root growth.
Is it just a matter of making each watering to run off for the next 3 or 4 with 6.5 water - and they will sort of grow into the soil?

Ok, so these are the readings - based on CF & ppm x 700

  1. CF 22 - 24/ 1540-1680 ppm

  2. CF 22 - 24/ 1540-1680 ppm

  3. CF 10/ 700 ppm (slightly less run off on this one - but repeatable)

Now I need to know what the hell that all means!

Look at the numbers for each plant then look at the damage each plant has. The most damage is on the plants with the higher PPMs. For those youngsters I would keep the PPM really low and monitor the new growth.the numbers are high for a mature plant so a youngster will struggle. How does your pH look. Just go by the PPM reading as the rest is the same information just in a different format

I didn’t pH the run off - but I will (still in trays). I know it is 6.5ish going in.
The numbers do actually equal the damage if that is the case.
What would you consider low numbers?
I will keep that in mind and do clones differently in the future if the soil is too hot for them.
I will keep to the ppm as the guide.
Will post the pH soon!
Thanks mate. :v:

@Davyg and @Arrow have you covered. :v:

The run off pH for all 3 is around 6.2-6.3

Can I give them another soaking or is it best to now wait until they need it?

Also, I am not expecting the light to be too much - is that a fair assumption?

I’m not gonna speak for @Davyg but i wouldn’t water anymore the ph is ok (on the low end but ok) :sunglasses::v:

Yeah, at this stage I’ll just monitor them and see how they look. As long as the new growth is strong I should be ok - if it doesn’t look to be improving, I might have to get some of the flush that is used at the end…
The last thing I want to do is drown them!

Pay attention to weight of the pots after watering. Then when they feel light water. I use the feast or famine technique. I let the plants tell me there thirsty. They will droop a little. Then I feel how heavy the pot is. Now I know it’s time to water. And you will never overwater/ underwater again. :sunglasses::v::call_me_hand: “edit” don’t let the leaves droop every time I do this occasionally to stimulate root growth.

Yes - I followed your lead with the feast/ famine method with the big girls - and the little ones will get the same. I will just have to hope that the grow into the rich soil. That is my main concern - that they get used to the soil. I would like to have them in veg for a week or so - and happy, before flipping the lot to 12/ 12. :v:

The big girls are going fantastic! They got a tweak and stretch today. Those pots are getting really busy!
At what point do you stop training and just let them rise?

I pretty much train mine until two weeks into flower. But also do a little tweaking throughout my whole grow. I’m either tying them down or tying them up! :sunglasses::v::call_me_hand: And btw on the soil @MrPeat uses OF the whole grow if I’m not mistaken
