First Grow Since 1992

Got popped in a P test and had to quit to keep my job so I quit growing altogether to avoid the temptation. So now VA has made grow legal and I have friends to gift to - so here goes. I first learned to grow at age 15 and never paid for smoke again. Moved up to Alaska for a while in the mid-80s had a great mentor. Took lots of notes!

Got autos since I had to wait until July to begin. I have White Widow sprouting and waiting on Blueberry and a Northern Lights to pop up.

Outdoor grow
7 gal. bags
Coast of ME Platinum soil/20% Perlite
Well Water pH = 6.6
AM lows = low 70s/PM mid 90s

I like it. Welcome to the forum and back to growing. I’m set to watching, wish I could grow outside. Inside is fun too, just not growing any 8 footers. Good luck, happy growing.

Welcome. Autos are a blast to grow also but u will find that u do get a bit better product from regular photo seeds. Still good smoke but not near as mich per tree and they usually start to flower around a month from sprout. Give or take a few days to a week or so. All my aitos unless stunted at start flower about 30 to 32 days from sprout. Outside might play a diff game tho as i grow inside. Good luck ill follow. What nutrients are u planning on using along the way??

Going to use Jack’s if I need to. I’m hoping the soil will carry them most of the way. I’ll just have to really watch them. I work in a lab so I have access to all types of meters to analyze and test soils, water and nutrients.

If you want the best you can grow you’ll have to supplement something. Just don’t go as much as they can handle, that causes big buds but loss of terpenes. Which is my current battle. Where do I put nutrients to get huge buds and full aroma/taste. Which im switching to coco and jacks for more control. Blue dreams popped this morning. One of my last two plants in soil here.

Monitor your runoff ppms. If it drops below 1200 expect to be feeding soon.

Yo I just burned mine i think by using jack’s. I only used it every other watering but it was too much, now I’m flushing my plants with burnt leaves.

@Nik

At what ratio? 3-2-1? How accurate is your scale? What is your medium? How old is the plant?
This is why tickets are great.

I used digital scales to put it in within .10

Age? That soil doesnt need nutes for a month. If you want to start feed sooner do happy frog only. Ocean is too hot to add nutes before 4-6 weeks depending on container size. The larger the container, the longer.

Yeah I waited until about week 5 or so before I used it

Do you have a ppm tester? Most who use soils that hot monitor ppm and start feed once it drops below 1200 or 1000. I switched to an inert medium because of crap like this. Coco

I got 3 or 4 plants that are just yellow with burnt tip leaves. It’s live and learn tho. I just wanted the best but like many I’m learning you can’t go by what they suggest on feeding

It’s not a guessing game when you take measurements

well I’m not gonna argue, I’m just saying I fed like suggested and it was too much. I weighed my stuff in with digitals, I wasn’t guessing at all

You are guessing if you do not know your runoff ppm. You are guessing as to what is left in the soil. How can you begin to know what needs to be added if you don’t know the contents?

I tried to send pictures but can’t get it to show

yeah I understand that, but it was suggested to wait until week 4’or6 and I went on 5. Plus I weighed it in, that’s what’s the word was. This is my first grow. Best I could do was check ph run off in the tub. All I got was ph meter this far. Hey it’s live and learn huh? Obviously I should have used less.

Yeah I’d like to try coco. Sounds like more my style. I try to stay on top of shit with my plants. I need the other tester though like you said.

I’d recommend
