you are right about the alcohol. Good ole everclear. Great for extracting and killing viruses.
two other recipes use bleach or hydrogen peroxide.
The only problem I have is that they don’t say what the strength the H2O2 is. The generally available H2O2 sold in the stores is 3%. We are told that the virus is not really susceptible to 3% H2O2 but 30-90% will be effective.
