Is the bud safe to use?

Hey everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help with this and I’m really hoping for some positive news, but not counting on it.

I only grow two plants.

I harvested one today (Jack Herer) and as I was harvesting, I thought it looked really strange. Well, after some research, I figured out it is bud rot/mold.

So, of course, I had to toss it. Beyond sad.

My questions:
(1) the main cola was unusable. But, some of the side buds didn’t look like they had the mold. Is it safe to dry and use those or if there is mold it’s everywhere and nothing should be used?

(2) I figured, after some reading, that I’d better harvest the other plant immediately, even though I would have liked it to go a little longer.
When I harvested it, I didn’t see the same weirdness that the other plant had when I would cut open a bud. It didn’t look diseased like the other.
But, when I was trimming, I noticed that if I pulled hard or whatever, I could see what looked like a little dust or pollen in the air. Is that mold too, even though the buds didn’t look diseased like the first plant? Or, is that just normal, not mold, but something else? Is this plant safe to dry and use?

I’d hate to trash both plants because it was all for nothing then and I use this for pain relief, so it’ll be depressing if I can’t use the second one. But, I also don’t want to get sick, either.

Thoughts?

Thank you!!!

Can you upload a pic

If you only have a bit of mold on The bud give it a hydrogen peroxide bath 4-1 mix and soak them for about 5 minutes, shake the excess water off and hang them to dry with a fan on them for about 4 hours. Finish the dry normally. Sounds like it can be saved.

Rinse them aftwr the bath though.

I can, but it’s the plant I had to toss. I don’t see the same visible signs on the second plant, just the “pollen” or whatever that I see floating in the air.

But, this was the first plant.

4 parts hydrogen peroxide and 1 part water?

You kinda look at it this way.
Not to say that peroxide and all will help minimize the problem
But would you smoke it? @Ekdanta

The drying experience is low circulation, high moisture environment, a 2 part budwash would be wise prior to hanging to dry. Use a fair ratio of h202 in your wash water and use good pure water to rinse. This will kill off any spores that have landed on your buds before you go to dry them. Also wanna clean everywhere if grow was inside. Spores are sticky and will ruin future efforts. Kill em, kill em dead. I hate bleach but when it comes to molds, I dont think vinegar is good enough.

??? Bleach

Neither pics has anything usable. If the rest of the plant has even half of what the 2nd pic has, I’d chunk the whole thing. Apple cider vinegar is good for WPM, but the buds pictured have a very aggressive case of mold and bud rot.

Welcome back , I’m with @Borderryan22 What I see in the picture I would toss would not be healthy to consume. In the future good air flow will always be the plant’s best friend.
Good luck :v::+1:

Was this an indoor plant? If so you have a significant amount of contamination to remediate. Any thing an airborne particle could reach needs to be thoroughly cleaned. I’ve been there. It is a PIA. Bleach, peroxide washes. I filled a misting humidifier with 3% peroxide and ran it till empty.
