First Attempt, Looooong grow. Bonsai plants? Deplorables Kush ;)

NIce. I got 10 blankets for about a buck each on line, so it is about the same thing. I have 8 left if you need one  I should clarify - I didn’t buy the windshield thingy for this. I bought it for 9.99, but not for this. I just remembered that was the price, as I also recall that I got the fan for about 4.99. I was just stressing that there is no need to spend big bucks to do this.

Shit, you can get to work on a bicycle and save thousands a year, if that is your thing. I just can’t look at a thing that costs over $1000 (like a tent set-up) and NOT break it down into what you are actually paying for. Does a fancy $49.99 fan blow air better than one from the dollar store? You know, that kind of thing.

I don’t care about the smell, but I’m sure activated charcoal for aquarium filters is probably cheaper than “Dr. Bud’s No Skunk” charcoal - if that’s a thing. But for the guy that figures it out first and markets it? You rock! I just ain’t buying it.

And Ivanka after the lights go out

How does activated charcoal for aquariums help with the smell? And what do you do? Mine are still very small. I have 5 plants I’m try in to grow and see how far I get. But I live close proximity to my neighbors and having kids I would like to avoid a smell and any unwanted attention to all of this.

There are charcoal air filters that remove smell. Activated charcoal is activated charcoal. Just pointing out that many things marketed as “cannabis specific” are repurposed from something else. One guy on here posted about a filter for a fish pond for under $20, and it’s like 5lbs of activated charcoal. An “air filter” (mesh or floss with charcoal inside) probably has an ounce or two of the same charcoal, and costs 17 times as much.

Another example would be the pop-up tents and kids playhouse type things. Make the inside reflective, add a light and ventilation…

So the lights came on and I didn’t get to finish my “tent” until this morning. I noticed that the Mylar was pretty see-through (inset), so I figure that means light is getting through, so I hung extras on the sides. Have to watch the temp today and see if I need another fan.

This is Day 28 of flower, but I am expecting this to take longer than the standard 8-9 weeks for most of it.

On all my cola, the next set of flowers seem to be at the same maturity, so my first harvest is likely going to be just those top 2 sections, and that might be my only stem cut. I think I’m going to cut individual flowers from there and put it back into veg to see what happens. BUT what does that do for flushing, the dark period, etc…Any advice appreciated.

Week 3 day 7 vs week 4 day 7. This is why I take pictures

They’re looking great!

I would be careful about pruning off too many fan leaves though. They store much of the sugar for the plant and help with photosynthesis- yes in theory it would allow for the plant to focus its energy on the buds- but I think in the long run it’s going to reduce your yield.

Just my two cents. I’m sure there are some who would disagree with me.

Since this was a practice grow, I lollipopped one (the 4-cola, less to screw up) and left the other alone. I haven’t pruned anything since flower though. I agree about letting the plant naturally ditch leaves, I had issues early, once I got her going I trimmed the older damaged leaves.

Same cola, from week 3 day 5 to week 4 day 7.

Oh, @Ray4x - this is on the plant that was not pruned. Definite difference in the lushness of the sugar leaves -but these may be 2 different strains, so who knows…

Dang they are looking good!

How much longer till harvest?

My girls are just starting to reach my scrog. Maybe 1-2 weeks until I switch to flowering.

Today starts week 5 of flowering, but I have no idea the strain (hence “Deplorables Kush”) so ???

Comparing their progress with Mr. Bergman’s guide, they seem on schedule for a week8-9 harvest.

I forgot to mention when I said “This is why I take pictures” it is to enforce patience. Looking at them every day it’s hard to see the growth. Here’s more porn:

Just a journal update. The nutrients I add are clear, and I saw a “recipe” that called for 3-6ml/gal of molasses. The color turned out about like this, so I use this amber color as a guide for how much to add if using a “not gallon” container.
