Have you been checking ph and ppm in and out? I see you flushed recently, what about the scheduled flushing fox farms recommends? The proposed schedule is pretty aggressive, it can cause an antagonistic lockout very easily if ppm levels get too high. Would look just like a deficiency anyway.
Thanks @dbrn32, you always get back to me right away and I really appreciate it. My pH is always 6.9-7.0 no matter when or how I test, so I’m wondering if I need a different meter. Had such minor issues up til now that I am only buying new accessories if I need them, and apparently I’m a week late on a ppm/tds meter. Eh, newbies: you try to teach them right from wrong but some things they have to learn the hard way! Lol.
Will get meters and report the vital signs asap, hope amazon can come thru for me quickly. Do’s and don’t in the meantime? Also, is the browning on the buds of the BBG actually amber? Seems a bit too soon but what the H do I know?!
It will work out. Just really hard to look at stuff and know what you need strictly from visual observation.
If you are able to calibrate your ph meter, I would try that. If you can’t or it won’t calibrate, then maybe look into getting a new one that you can calibrate. You can definitely get by with an inexpensive tds tester, but I would try not to cheap out on ph tester. Checking ph and tds in/out regularly and keeping notes can usually show you when you have a problem before it’s able to be seen in plants.
The pistils turning brown show later stages of flower. Once majority have turned you can start monitoring trichomes for harvest.
Hey man sounds like dbrn has you covered but helping me too cuz Mexican airlines auto 5 weeks into flower and having the same problem, I don’t have meters either. I’m new to deficiencies too, wish I could help. Darkness of hairs is good like dbrn said plants are maturing, when most are brown look to tricomes. Plants look good tho, good luck getting stuff from amazon.
@Naptown you’re in good hands here
Awesome. Thanks, I’ll be back once I get the meters.
Naptown-
The calvalry got here before me. I know that problems this close to harvest are very hard. Dbrn32 has got you covered. When you see leaves like that, don’t let it get to you. Focus on how the buds and the new growth looks. You will find out whats going on and fix it. These plants are SO resilient. Your girls dont look that bad. Get yourself a good pH tester. There are a couple of good testers out there. Apera and Bluelab both make quality meters. If you are going to get a good one, be sure to get storage solution too. The good ones come with calibration solution. If the one you want doesn’t, get some calibration solution too. Hope this helps. Peace…
Even the cheapo PH and TDS pens set I got is doing OK if you can’t afford the expensive ones right now. I just check the calibration of my PH pen in the calibration solution probably every couple of uses and it’s never too far off.
Thanks @anon33684698 can I ask what you have? I’m hoping to find something useful in the $30 range.
Appreciate it patchman. Cash is tight right now so I can’t go more than like $30 for each (ph and tds). Can you recommend anything specific in that range?
You could grab a ten dollar tds meter and the 50 dollar apera ph meter (amazon prices) probably available cheaper elsewhere if you look around
Any thoughts on hm line?

Naptown,
Eagles009 has given you good advice. You can get a cheap tds meter and get a good pH meter. That HM tds meter should be ok. I dont know anything about the company. There are cheap tds meters on Amazon, and the apera pH meter is a good tester. I would say Apera and Blue Lab are the 2 better testers out. I think the Apera comes with calibration solution. If you can afford it, get some storage solution. That will help protect your investment. You can even replace the probe on the apera unit if it goes bad. With the cheap ones you’ll keep having to buy new ones when they quit working. I am a poor guy, so I understand times are tight. But thats what I would do. Good luck.
Peace…
Yep,
When I bought my first cheap set I did not pay much at all. Of course with the cheap ones you have to buy calibration liquid and storage solution. I did not pay as much as BStarr paid for her two if that says anything. Good luck naptown and tag me if you need anything. Peace.
I started this grow m, my 1st, expecting it to go wrong so I wouldn’t be disappointed (now THAT’S the spirit!), and I did great until a cour weeks ago. Everything took a dive in the last 10 days, including me when I broke my wrist, making gardening next to impossible. Not only did/do I clearly have a nute problem on my WhW and Bbg but a switch bump caused 1 light to stay on for 24 hrs before I caught it.
Since I’m so close to harvest, do I just let the clock run-out and take what I’ve got knowing it will be seed and/or weak weed or is there time to mess with soil and nutes? Ugh.
I’m so sorry to hear all this has happened to you @Naptown!
If I were in your position, I would buy a microscope or jewellers loupe like, today to get a look at the trichs. To me (and as you know I’m absolutely no expert) there’s still a stack of white pistils there so you’re probably a little bit further away from the finish line than you think and the ladies still have time to stack on some weight in those buds for you.
As I said, I’m a newbie like you so wait for some more experienced heads to join the convo before taking my advice lol
I’m with @anon33684698 looks like a couple weeks, by then pistols should be 70 to 90% brown and need to start checking tricomes. I normally water only last two or three times, some flush, some don’t. I hope they didn’t hermi, but late in flower nothing to do but watch for nanners or male flowers in lower growth. I bumped timer two grows ago and got seed weed, really good but seeds. Good luck man, they look good tho
Thanks @Dennis62 and @anon33684698, really appreciative for your help. I’m pretty sure the AK hermied but hard to tell with the other 2. Got my new ph and tds meters today so after work I’ll try to get some data to figure out how to get them on track.
Thanks again, y’all been some of my best advisors. I’ll be happy with the grow if I get enough yield to last me through another grow cycle—I bought a 15-seed pack (plus the seeds from this grow, lol!!) so I knew round 1 would be somewhat of an experiment.
Cheers mate. I’m on a steep learning curve, just like you lol
