Feeding your girls

How often should you feed?

How about starting with general information on what you have going on?

Your question has an endless amount of variables.

Well, we all start somewhere. I don’t think we have a divide in leagues here. Just friends and a helpful backing.

There a lot of ways to manage feeds. A lot of us go off of run off. Basically you collect the water that runs out the bottom and you test it with an pH and ppm meter then compare to input.

What’s your medium, and what nutrients do you use?

Miracle-grow organic soil, 5-1-1 fish fertilizer

Ok, idk a whole lot about using miracle grow, or the fish with cannabis.

Perhaps @Dennis62 will chime in. :call_me_hand:t3:

strips can give you a general idea. I’d recommend a cheap tds/ph meter combo. If you choose to pursue the hobby more in depth and want to achieve better results I’d recommend going for more reputable brands. :call_me_hand:t3:

The devices are very beneficial, and will help you get a better understanding of the process.

Plus, should you encounter problems it’s likely some of the first things members are going to ask for. Medium, light, ppms of feed and run off, pH of feed and run off, all those numbers help triangulate an issue. Without, it’s kind of a guessing game.

Good afternoon my friend @Crazy81 your girls are doing good, and I assume about week 3 or 4 of flower, with all those white pistols they are still building bud, I use miracle grow potting mix which is different from miracle grow organic, I would suggest a pk booster during flower to raise phosphorus and potassium, but you are far enough along that I would not worry about it, your soil probably has enough to get you through this grow. Fish is basically a nitrogen booster, keeps plant green with 5-1-1 I would get a tds meter which checks the amount of parts per million of desolved solids and helps to know when to feed, something to get for next grow to check your run off numbers. I agree with Low there are no leagues here, we all start somewhere. You will be harvesting something for your efforts which is great :+1: but we can make improvements to your next grow. I have not used the organic soil but I assume it is a good medium and has nutes to get through veg, but would advise a flowering nutes next time. I assume you have holes in the bottom of those 5 gallon buckets, I see catch trays thats great and you should be watering to run off every few days at this point. Your plants are telling me there was probably a watering problem during early stages of the grow and if you improve watering habits it will help. I give a step by step watering schedule for starting a seedling in bigger pots at the beginning of each of my grows and you can check it out, and anytime you need help you can tag me here or anywhere just @Dennis62 and I will get back to you as soon as I can  I would keep doing what you are for the next 3 weeks or more when those white pistols turn orange before harvesting, investigate here what successful growers are doing and emulate what they do. Its a learning experience every grow. Holler at me anytime man I am happy to help in any way I can. sorry it took me so long to get back to you :innocent: I am home all day today and tomorrow so I will be here :+1:

Hey!

Welcome aboard. Best place in the world to get to growing.

The meter is a big deal and you can find those pretty cheap. @Lostgirl had a link i believe that had one for under $10. You can get this one from Amazon for under $25.

Your girls are in great hands with you and the folks here.

Good luck!

Yea was not giving enough water when i started since then have been watering til run off about ever 3 to 4 days depending on soil wettness

Just picked up a meter but think i need to do more shopping it just a dinky one,ph reads about 6.5 maybe a little more guess i need to go digital

Yeah ph is supposed to be as close to 6.5 as possible, but as important is the tds meter which measures ppm’s and they are pretty inexpensive, checking run off numbers is something every soil grower should do, tells you when and if you need to feed.

When and how much to water is a thing that you have to learn, and it is different with every type of medium out there, there are many soils out there and each needs different treatment. If you stick with the same thing you can find out what works best through repetition. Or there are other mediums or soiless mediums like coco, my miracle grow potting mix does not have soil in it and I can treat it like coco or hydro methods, totally different than soil. You see mediums for a hydro drain well so frequent watering is expected, soils have lots of leaf litter and compost materials that retain moisture, which makes water more problematic for a beginner so don’t beat yourself up for having problems with your first grow. I can maybe help when you decide to start a new grow if you tag me, watering properly is the most prevalent problem I see on this forum in my opinion, and so if you want to stay in a soil work out the kinks or switch to a soiless or hydro and a good nutrient line is awesome :ok_hand: hey your welcome my friend glad to help :innocent: I get stoned and ramble sorry lol
