FECiDa 600 LED Full Spectrum light (from Amazon)

I purchased this light for my 2x2x6’ grow bow Im building from scratch. I got it- opened her up- I was impressed. VERY quiet internal fan and nicely dimable. I saw some GOOD reviews on it on Amazon as well as YOUTUBE- Im definately going to use but Ill be fine with 2 of these in a 2x2 wont I ?

This is a 65 watt LED not suitable for growing cannabis. These things are all over Amazon and they are scams. They use creative means for getting to 600 watts, but it’s really only a 65 watt light. A GE LED bulb type light would be almost as effective.

Avoid any light that has fans, has a purple hue color light, has veg/bloom switches, and most models that have a daisy-chain capability. These will all be similarly poor performing lights.

You want a light that is built with Samsung LM301 series diodes. HLG is the best, but you can get models with LM301b diodes that are only 1 generation old and are nearly as effective from Spider Farmer or Mars Hydro. HLG uses LM301h diodes, which are about 10% more efficient and are the best diodes currently available.

Beware of Amazon reviews for these lights as they are manipulated by sellers:

Midwest - I saw in another post you like HLG light…

Opinion on HLG 100 V2 4000K for my 2x2 cabinet ?

or MARS HYDRO 2023 New TS1000W Led Grow Light 3x3ft Daisy Chain Dimmable Full Spectrum LED

I like that Mars has the dimmer - Im leaning to this…but like opinions…

Much better, but if you could spend a little more and get a 200 watt Rspec you (and your plant) would be much more happy. You really need ~200 watts to flower a plant.

A TSL2000 would be much better if you want to go with Mars.

@MidwestGuy man I wish I would’ve joined the forum before I started my first grow. I was sold by the reviews too and it’s funny I saw this post right after my first post on this forum.
Today is day 106 on this grow and I have the same light @eight bought.
So you’re saying this will be bad smoke since the light wasn’t strong enough? Or will leaving these girls a little longer help me out?

Since then I have added a second tent and this time I’m using vipar lights. Are these good?

No. You just get overly tall plants with whispy flowers.

They claim to use LM301 diodes, which are fine; however, Vipar is a former burple maker with a reputation for being dishonest about their products.

@MidwestGuy i thought my stretching was caused by my keeping my light to far from the plants…. And I got a little too happy defoliating them :grimacing:

The distance between the nodes on the plant are due to inadequate lighting. Excessive defoliation will cause problems, but long node spacing is not among those problems.

What should I expect from the excessive defoliating?

The possibility of slowed plant growth and poor overall health.

What size tent ? Just one light ?

Multiple Vipars (warm lung room). All purchased before forum joining (2013-2022).
My HLG350R runs cooler, brighter, and I love it.
HLG260Kit second to 350R, instaal today.
Light meters and Watt meters confirm HLG over Vipars all day long.
Vipar Spectra V1200, 550 watts true, 45Klux at 25inches (same as HLG @50%. and 200Watts).
V1200, R900, V600, V2000, and V1000 together, 1500 watts total.
2 tents 4x4x6.5 and clone tent 2x3x5.

Re node spacing…
A common practice used to make a plant stretch (increase internode spacing) is to raise the light. When you raise the light this decreases the PPFD at canopy level. This means there is less light and lower DLI values. An underpowered light has the same results. Low PPFD and insufficient DLI.

Many growers around here use HLG 150 watt Patriot light in their 2x2. Price wise it is a very different light than the one you bought.

@eight im using the same light you have in a 2’x2’x4’ tent

Ok… iplanned on using 2 of them…looks like you had decent results, an additional light may have been all u needed if everything else was good…

How much is the HLG 150 PATRIOT

@eight, it is $179.00. You can use the code DUDE for a 10% discount, and it may also give you free shipping.
